First names for Unsound Festival 2025 have been confirmed — we should keep an eye on them, as Primavera Sound often gets “inspired” by this advanced/experimental music festival when filling out their own lineup.

This year, for example, we saw artists like AKA HEX, CRYSTALLMESS (live), Florence Sinclair, Kali Malone, RHR, Still House Plants, Sideproject, and Heinali + Yasia — all of whom performed at Unsound 2024.

would freak out if Primavera bagged Eiko Ishibashi & Jim O'Rourke

I'm thinking and afraid that artists like David Byrne and My Bloody Valentine are not that likely, since they presumably require a large fee and don't attract that many people. They might be a larger name for prestige, but not for festival visibility or ticket sales. Even more so if Primavera is the main reason they decide to tour in June next year.

David Byrne is doing a livenation tour so it wouldn't shock me if he's nabbed by livenation festivals instead. He didn't play primavera on his last tour either.

I'd love to see him but also totally ready for this

Genre-wise yes, those actual bands, no.

It's impossible to predict who they might book when we don't know who's touring.

Mac DeMarco with a new album and last date in US on 23rd of may next year.

99,99% on for 2026 edition.

I said the same about Tyler this year... last European date was May 31 but he played the Governors Ball instead. No guarantees anymore!

There are unconfirmed reports of some kind of pepper spray/tear gas attacks at two Barcelona festivals recently, done so as the perpetrators could steal phones whilst their numerous victims were incapacitated (some vomiting).

I don't know if this is going to become a trend but perhaps points to more security next year and if I hear of more reports, I will take an old phone to the festival in future.

the festival will still be more concerned about people bringing in bottles of water

Isn't that a very reasonable concern as bottles end up being thrown at performers and no way of identifying the culprit half the time?

I think the performers are owed some protection...

Unnecessary fear mongering this. Don't think there's anything to worry about. As always people should be wary of thieves and pickpockets (as they should at all major events) but acting like there's an obvious risk of being tear gassed is just ridiculous.

No bottles get launched at performers at primavera, or most events these days.

What?

My language was very measured - ‘unconfirmed’, ‘don’t know if this is going to become a trend’, ‘perhaps’.

Don’t think you know what fearmongering is. Was simply alerting people so they could research and make their own mind up.

One of the festivals was Afterlife when Anyma were playing who were at PS a couple of years ago.

One report of this incident isn't worth mentioning, it just gets people worried for no reason. There's nothing to alert people on.

Also what does the relevance of the act playing have anything to do with it.

Huh?

I mentioned two festivals and now it turns out there's a third. Brunch Elektronik from last week when Charlotte de Witte was playing. They just put out a statement.

All in Barcelona. And I mentioned the acts to show that these are not some kind of wildly different events.

Last time I checked, people on here are adults and will do their own research and come to their own conclusions, you're the one being weird and controlling.

That doesn’t seem to be an issue at any other festival. Certainly wasn’t at Glastonbury this weekend. Primavera is a very friendly crowd, it’s an unnecessary confer

Not that it has any importance in this discussion but I don't think Anyma ever played at PS. I think he was annonced but canceled.
