Crowd sizes are a really big thing on the boards of Efestivals isn't it?

It is really weird, judging from this forum I'm getting slightly worried that there won't be anywhere at Glastonbury open during the weekend.

Shrangrila's line-up looks great! I've read that they're doing a full redesign of that area and potentially opening up a new field for the main stage so hopefully those big acts will work there ! exciting!

Pretty much every set is going to be dangerously overcrowded. Updating my will before I go, lest I be trampled underfoot.

It's odd isn't it.  Only really in the past couple of years its become an obsession.

I miss the halcyon days of whether Foals were bigger than 1975, and whose mums had heard of Stormzy.

It's still in an oddly shaped field.  Unless the fields around it are also being re-modelled a bit I dunno if there's too much they can do to reconfigure it.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I hope they really open it up so its not so rammed - like the way Block9 is an area rather than a passageway type thing - let's see!

Get rid of the food stalls and bars at the back of main stage arena for a start

Maybe people are getting wise. Any one of us could do what he does live

I never knew it was that simple!  If I did i'd have gone and made myself rich and had a 30 year DJ and producer career!

Why didn't you do that?

The Truth stage position has been a problem for years - there's just too many people trying to make their way through at the back and it's an unpleasant bottle neck. The fact we've not had a muddy one for nearly a decade has masked alot of issues.

<Shocked that people are discussing how busy areas will be>

Becoming a bigger issue in recent years and always cause fierce debates, which keeps people engaged i guess!

In what world are the Prodigy going to cause a shutdown of the Other stage (can this even happen? you can approach it from numerous angles) when they're also up against O Rod. Literally 0 chance. The field must be able to hold like 70k people surely at least?

Forget O Rod - Overmono will eat a huge chunk of the dance crowd

Compared to some of the other stages that get busy its not even that high on the list!

Except, Chris, that you and I remember that we on 'ere are not entirely representative of the whole festival puntership, and Mumfords will be ramalamadingdong.

Ben

Shhhhsh, me and mrs c will be there, but don’t tell anyone and destroy my credibility 👍😀
and a lot better value than shelling out 250 quid for two tickets for their Glasgow gig in December!😉😊

Yep we will be there too, banjos at the ready. Mr C is also a fan. Think it’ll be busy - may need to get there earlier than we did for Kasabian last year when they closed Woodsies just before we got there

Are they the secret set in Woodsies? I can see that being packed out alright

But why? I never see a lot of chat about festival crowd sizes elsewhere, why is this such a big thing in here?

I think once there have been perceived issues it self perpetuates it’s also one of the largest and has the most interest so inevitably that discussion happens amongst others . It’s fairly recent so one event has probably triggered the rest . It’s also fair to say that the festival take feedback and act on threads on here along with app data to help ensure we are all safe and obviously that’s no bad thing

hahaha!  Bravo.  It's delusion to claim what Fatboy Slim does is easy or say "I can mix songs together at 125bpm in my bedroom, so I could do what he is doing".  He's had an amazing career.  Last time I saw him, I heard a few folk whingeing that...they didn't hear enough Fatboy Slim songs.  Some folk just like moaning.

    • When it comes to legacy alternative acts I hope they bring the Afghan Whigs. Those newly released songs are incredible and classic Whigs sound
    • We’ve a friend  who has hens and sells eggs for two quid for six. So much tastier than supermarket ones. She has an honesty box outside her house and has now expanded into selling them to hotels and the local butchers shop. Quite a decent wee business
    • Curiously a rumour has turned up that Barcelona are now interested in Rodri. So could make Real Madrid and Man City are suddenly both in need of a central midfielder.    ... Assuming this move to Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes ends up being processed before those two may need to enter the conversation.
    • I think Thunderbolts probably had one of the more interesting villains for an MCU movie. I was actually a bit creeped out by Void. I'm a massive horror movie fan, and I can't think of another time in the last couple of years where a character legit scared me like he did.    Brand New Day was a good time. A great villain choice as it played into Parker's insecurities. Castle was a strange inclusion but the dynamic between him and Parker was great. Castle must have been delighted to have someone who never seen themselves as superior to him like Murdoch pretty much always did.
    • Certainly the fact Bruce had disasters at West Brom and Blackpool has hurt his chances. Maybe he'll go mentor his son now he's a manager at Rotherham.    Maybe the passive aggressive comment about Howe being "that fella who got Bournemouth relegated" also counts as it's own comment that aged very poorly.
