Most people there will only know him for the cover. There's a ridiculous amount of people who buy tickets to artist's gigs off the back of one song. Combs isn't headlining Glastonbury either way.

Its not even his biggest song on Spotify though, in fact theres two bigger ones - argument makes very little sense!

Biggest song on Spotify doesn't mean biggest song overall. You need to account for how long the songs have been out - Beautiful Crazy came out in 2017 so has had far longer to get plays. Where the Wild Things Are is the only song from 2023 that's any bigger than Fast Car on Spotify. 

 

Again, either way there's no chance Combs will headline 2027 Glastonbury regardless of how many Wembley tickets he can shift.

It's a shame Glastonbury doesn't really go for the whole themed line-up thing you get at some other festivals you could make quite a good one out of these sort of artists. Not sure if Post Malone is big enough to headline yet though. Not necessarily in this order but something like:

 

Post Malone / Luke Combs / Shania Twain / Zach Bryan / Garth Brooks / Dasha

Nah, Not even comparable as I suspect you know. Pyramid headliners don't need to fill the field every time, and it's a good thing when there's strong competition. How many people that any given artist can draw to the field isn't a static number, it's always going to vary quite a bit with competition and context.

 

The main problem with SZA is that she was a key part of what was ultimately a very weak night - weak enough that a large number of people decided the best option was to skip the Sunday evening entirely, and bugger off home early. It's not like her small crowd led to huge numbers across the rest of the site - I've heard that Justice on West Holts was fairly busy, but the rest of the major stages were reportedly somewhere between quiet and average.

 

Whereas Neil Young was up against much stronger acts, including one that many people thought could have been a viable Pyramid headliner and another that briefly shut down Woodsies - and yet while his crowd was smaller than a typical Pyramid headliner he still drew about twice as many people to the Pyramid than SZA had managed (source: witnessed both first hand).

 

The crucial difference here is that nobody should have been struggling to find something of interest on the Saturday night at Glastonbury 2025 - across the 5-10 biggest stages, it was one of the strongest nights in a while - whereas they clearly were struggling on Sunday in 2024 hence the early departers.

Can confirm Justice was absolutely epic! 

 

Happy with my choice even though I recall the Glade line up was also incredible that night and nearly got me.

It's not a ridiculous suggestion. They are all big enough for those respective slots and the theme would be a nice addition to the festival, unfortunately they seem averse to putting on similar artists on the same stage so it won't happen.

Both of their WH headliner sets would be in my top 10 Glasto sets of all time.

because tickets sell out before lineup, there's a gamble with crowd size.  SZA does draw a large crowd, but it's very possible her crowd didnt try for or werent lucky enough to get tickets.  It doesnt account for all of it - yes a lot of people went home early - but i think it could be a factor. 

 

I think with Neil, the festival wanted him for Michael's sake and they likely knew he wouldnt have the draw.  They had a lot of big acts elsewhere to please attendees and just went with it.  Michaels happy, emilys happy, surely everyone who went is happy with who they saw.

Bang on - it worked fine in the end and left nobody crazy overcrowded either.

 

I guess they have learnt not to put a riskier headliner on Sunday if possible perhaps

This album is make or break for him I think. His tours are pretty big - so we'll see I guess, he'd be on the smaller side for sure though

I don't like him or his work but he's definitely big enough to headline the Pyramid.
