Not sure about that. I get the impression she'd facilitate a headliner spot if it was offered.

If she said “sure, I’d love to”, yeah. There’s still a hurdle there and it’s hard to see it’s not fee related.

Does it almost count as a side-quest for her at this point?

Yeah, but why wouldn't she do it? She's got all the money in the world so that shouldn't come into it. Just for the sake of wanting to perform and experience amazing things in her life, I'd want to do it if I were her.

It would be great for the festival too. Though I'm not sure how great for the other stages 😄

Why would Madonna do it in the future given that she didn't budge on fees for 2024? Also, she blows live, so the festival would not be done any favors there.

Also, with the expansion of the Other Stage, I don't think people would complains as much with a hypothetical all female pop Pyramid Stage closer scenario. Hell, Charli was considered more of a headliner than Neil Young this year.

There's some mightily unrealistic expectations as to the calibre of artist that Glastonbury can convince to do the festival in this thread.

To be fair every now and again they absolutely knock it out the park on the acts they book - obviously it was cancelled but in 2020 they would have had Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney  & Taylor Swift - basically 3 of the biggest acts on the planet so its not beyond them booking 3 mega sized acts.

The difference in booking big stadium acts now compared to 5 years ago is a different game. The money now is massive

I think you're spot on there. The post-Covid, live event, 'experience economy' has absolutely rocketed. People pay way more for a ticket than they previously did and stars can probably demand more to boot.

I reckon by law of averages there will be one major female headliner for 2027 - hopefully Gaga.

Just seen a snippet for an interview Chappell did with Vogue released today where she says the next album isn’t ready yet and won’t be for a long time so safe to say I’d be very surprised if she’ll be there in 2027. Reckon Sabrina will be the up-and-comer headliner choice next time round if there is one.

I also saw NME reporting Rihanna’s London residency rumoured for this year might actually be on next year but it was reported by The S*n so who knows.

But for now I do think a headliner trio of Harry Styles/Muse/Lady Gaga or alternates like Sabrina/Fender/Bruce/Stevie W seems plausible so far.

"A long time" can mean anything. Imagine she releases an album in fall 2027 and plays Glasto that year with a few new previously released singles.

To be fair, with The Giver and The Subway now released (plus the Barracuda cover and I wouldn't be shocked if she played an unreleased song at R&L in a few weeks) she could definitely still be in the cards. Just all depends on if she ends up going away properly to work on the album or if she continues releasing a bunch more singles.

The link didn’t work for me so imagine my joy seeing the name that popped up!

(All jokes aside, just stick him daytime Pyramid again and everything will be grand)

"with many at the time saying he deserved the Sunday Legend slot."

Did anyone say that?

Handful of comments on social media, including some which were actually just people saying "What a legend" would be my guess

As one of the indie/rock/punk Oasis attending fans I can assure you I would not be secretly pleased to see Madonna in any way shape or form. That being said I'd love her to headline, get as many people over there as possible and let me enjoy a nice night elsewhere.

My finger in the sky prediction is still Green Day, the nostalgia has been doing so well and Billy Joe has spoken about wanting to do it previously. They've been rumoured for years, to the point of it almost seeming like an ongoing gag. They're based out of London most of the year now.

I think I probably did tbf .... although not quite sure how a legend is defined .. maybe doesnt quite fit . Im also not quite sure about the 100k in the field claim in the article , sure it was busy but not those levels

Feel like they were in a prime position to do it this year or last year and didn't.

I would suspect they might be more of a shout for 2028 than '27 and suspect they might be using 2026 for resting/side-projects and 2027 for the next LP.
