Surely there could be a bit of common sense by the festival here and sell (or give) your original festival tickets to someone else and then leave two spots on the coach empty?

You'd have hoped, but apparently not! Really weird they can't just give them to someone else

Appreciate that! We'll see what happens anyway as there could always be another plot twist, but as someone asked about that comp last week I thought I should let you folks know

I actually found out about the Clipper comp through here as well

Bit silly of Clipper to announce the competition before the resale then announce the winner after?

Just a word of warning because I wouldn’t want you to miss out on- check the T&Cs for the clipper comp that you can’t win if you already have tickets (not sure if they allocate it to your reg). I’d hate for you to get the coach cancelled somehow and then not get the clipper ones if that makes sense?

Thanks, I have checked and it doesn't say that as far as I can see, but I'm still anticipating a potential plot twist in the coming days!

You certainly can't have two tickets issued to one reg number, so be very careful. You'll probably have to cancel the coach one in order to get the competition one and that might prove to be complicated.

Yeah, this is the plot twist I'm anticipating. Both Clipper (and whoever they're speaking to at the festival) and the festival via my own enquiry haven't said anything like this yet and if this is the case, they bloody should have said on Thursday! All Clipper have said is you need to be registered. As i mentioned before, I asked the festival myself if there are any complications with registration IDs and they didn't reply to that part of the email! But they did say it 'should be fine' to use the competition tickets instead.

We'll see anyway, and if they turn around and say I can't use them, then hopefully they'll give me the runner up prize and I'll be in York on the Wednesday ready for my Thursday coach!

Hopefully this will be useful information in the future if anyone else ends up like this!

Very simple solution here.

1. put the comp tickets in the registration numbers of my daughter and me

2. I'll come to London, give you a wad of cash and swap tents

3. i'll pitch your tent in a good spot wednesday and sleep in it for 1 night

4. i'll meet you thursday, show you to your tent, collect mine from you and hunt for another spot.

yeah?? 🤣🤣

When I won tickets they weren't attached to my reg. They had my name and address and a big stamp saying ID Required. So it might not be an issue - though that was a few years back and the competition tickets might have changed since.

I think it depends who you win them from and what type of ticket

I'm fairly sure the Worthy Cheese ones are put against a reg (CO-OP)

When I started frantically entering competitions before the resale I looked at a few T&Cs in case of this exact situation!

We won Brothers tickets this year - they are attached to our reg.

They did mention there was a deadline (which is gone) for them to get the info across to Glastonbury/See so not sure how it works for winners now. There was a mention of tickets without a photo needing ID in the T&Cs but I have to say, I can't remember the details - I assume it means any tickets won after the deadline would be photoless and collected at the box office, but that is purely speculation!

Admittedly, I have been a bit worried about telling people (especially people on an internet forum, some of whom will have been unlucky and missed out) about this

You shouldn't give a moment's thought to what anybody, especially anybody on the internet, thinks about anything.

Congratulations on the win! 🙂

Got an email on Wednesday last week to say that I had won a pair of tickets to Glastonbury in the Clipper Tea competition. I entered this competition in early April.

However, my wife and I got tickets in the coach resale. The problem with the tickets we have is that they are coach + tickets from York on the Thursday. This means that we would be getting there late afternoon that day. My wife and I live in London, meaning we have booked a hotel and a train to York on the Wednesday so we could get our Thursday morning coach from York. Never in a million years did we think we would win a competition as well.

I have been to 7 of the last 8 Glastonburys (missed out in 2023) and I am fully aware of how difficult it is to get tickets and was prepared to get anything as long as it meant me and my wife could go this year.

Therefore, getting this email didn't feel quite as special as it would have if I'd missed out on the resale! Since then, I have emailed the festival and they have said it should be fine for us to use the competition tickets instead so that we can then get to the festival early on the Wednesday and save us a trip to York (although we will go another time). However, we wouldn't be able to get a refund on the original (got refund protection but it won't cover winning a competition after getting resale tickets, but I don't expect anyone here to care about that). They didn't answer my question about how it works in regards to registration IDs though.

The lady at Ecotone I've been liaising with has been on holiday since Friday and isn't back until tomorrow so won't know exactly what's going on until I hear back from her. Annoying because we're 15 days away and I want this sorted.

You may also be wondering why I'm not putting down someone else's name as my guest instead of my wife's so someone who's ticketless can go. That's because I'm not sending my wife up to York all by herself and making her travel by herself from York and arrive late on the Thursday, whilst I'm at the festival without her, and with someone else when I'd rather I was with her! I don't think I should decline the prize either as this gives us the chance to spend all of Wednesday and Thursday there too, and those are good days as we all know. Also, better camping spot.

Admittedly, I have been a bit worried about telling people (especially people on an internet forum, some of whom will have been unlucky and missed out) about this, I've barely told anyone I know because they already know I'm going. But from the small amount of people I have told, they have said that these competition tickets are better than what I already have and it's also not my fault I won the competition, so crack on.

If I was you I'd use the competition tickets if all can be resolved with the reg ID, despite having paid. Would've done the same with the Oxfam deposit if I'd won some tickets (and would still in the vanishingly small chance something comes up in the next week!).

Congratulations on winning. You could travel up to York with your wife if you wanted to put someone else's name on the 2nd won ticket (i.e. sell it on) - unless you have to give up your coach ticket to claim one of the won tickets.

100% get there earlier if you can, if you have to lose a bit if money from something like trains I would. Hotels can hopefully be cancelled but think about you here, no need to think about anyone else.
