You've answered the question you wanted to answer, not the question I asked.

I'm a bit worried about the call to violence in your username.

I can't believe we allowed Hot Chip to get away with all this promoting of violence over the years

I don’t believe in the right of terrorist groups to arbitrarily commit mass murder if that’s what you mean…?

My question was simple enough without you having to ask what it meant.

You're being quite evasive on this very simple question.

Dan Jarvis has said in the commons that he would urge that "the organisers at the Glastonbury festival think carefully about who is invited to perform there later this year" in connection with an urgent question over Kneecap and a previous grant.

Oof, I'd be very worried if we ever got to the stage where the government were censoring cultural output or in this case festival lineups for having bands that don't share their views

Not evasive at all. I believe everybody has the right to self defence. I also believe that Hamas doesn’t give as much of a monkeys as the rest of the world when it comes to the protection of Palestinian civilians, so them being in charge of that defence is problematic. If they cared one jot about Gazan kids then they would release all the hostages, disarm and seek an alternative Arab administration before Trumpworld  comes real. But they don’t.

I've just looked a some of the top comments on their Instagram post, and the number of people voicing their discontent over the band's lack of support for Hamas is scary.

I don’t see it as scary. I see it that many people have their own opinion on the genocide and aren’t prepared to accept the Government and right wing narrative.

You were, and still are being incredibly evasive.  It's taken you three attempts to answer a very basic question and instead of directly saying you think a Palestinian has a right to self defence, you equivocate by referring to "everybody".

Yet when talking about the rights of Israel you are happy to be explicit about it.

It is prejudice to the Palestinians to allow one and not the other.

No, it is actually very scary how many antisemites are around.

The same Dan Jarvis who:

- Abstained in the vote for a Gaza ceasefire (Nov. 23)

- Did not sign the letter calling for the suspension of the sale of arms to Israel (Mar. 24)

- Did not sign the letter calling to uphold the ICC arrest warrants (May. 24)

You’ll have to excuse me for feeling the need to question Dan’s moral compass.

It’s also worrying that the Government feels it’s appropriate to pressure the festival towards a narrative.

I wonder what percent of those people are aware of the huge anti-Hamas protests in Gaza, or the Palestinians Hamas kidnapped, tortured and murdered to (unsuccessfully) ward off continued anti-Hamas protests.

Or that the Israeli courts threw as much into the prosecution of Sinwar for his murder of four Palestinians as they did for the killing of two Israelis. The tide is turning against hamas but their actions have simply emboldened hardline Israeli politicians and it will take some effort to get the necessary global support for more moderate Israeli voices. Israel does have history of doing that though, they are a nation of progressives in many ways,so fingers crossed.

I don't think there's anything they can do to pressure them, Glastonbury has already had the media coverage complaining about Palestine flags last year and Kneecap are booked (presumably) twice this year. Its just empty words and I can't see it having an effect.

I can see why it might be more of a consideration for TRNSMT but I doubt Glastonbury will even dignify it with a response. They'll probably announce the main stage they're on tomorrow instead!

What's the general consensus - does it seem more likely or unlikely that they'll be performing at Glastonbury 2025?

There is no reason for them not to play. They have also raised the profile of a very important topic where there are two very different sides and opinions.

Glastonbury, a festival that believes in free speech would do more harm than good by following the cancel culture.

Glasto certainly won't live down the "middle class festival for Guardian readers" allegations if they do cancel them.
