Yeah - I'm pretty sure that 2010 is the first year that they opened the Car Parks significantly before the gates, and that they made that change because 2009 had an unprecedented and unexpected number of people all trying to arrive Wednesday Morning, causing chaos on the local roads.

I got caught in that traffic, whereas in 2008 I'd been able to drive up bang on 8am, park up easily and was nearly spitting distance from (the old) Gate D and one of the first in the queue.

I agree. When we got through in 2010 at around 9am I was quite surprised how full Kidney Mead/Big Ground already was, and that was due to the overnight queuers.

I can even recall wandering around the site in 2008 Weds/Thurs day time and parts of the site were very quiet!

Brum coaches near the hippodrome last year. Our Wednesday one left at around 2:30pm, arrived on site at around 8:30pm - it really did take 6 hours!

The first leg to Bristol is fine, but the drivers insist on going through Bristol to get onto the A37 southbound only to hit 1mph gridlock traffic outside of Shepton Mallet - this part took nearly 3 hours, the much quicker way is to stay on the M5 and come off jct 23 then do Eastbound A39 to glasto town > A361 to the site. I know this cuz a mate of ours raced from Brum leaving at the same time and did exactly that, they were in just after 5pm!

I even emailed seetickets/ coaches of this but for the coach drivers they probably would rather sit for 3 hours in 1mph traffic and get paid the overtime

The Pieminister restaurant in Oxford is close to where I work, our manager has taken us there a couple of times for lunch…it’s decent!
