I mean, Love It If We Made It was Pitchfork's Song of the Year in 2018 and A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships won the BRIT for Best Album, but as you say, it is personal opinion. One man's cheddar is another man's cyanide.

Just try not to mix those two up when making a toastie.

If Harry Styles ever headlines in the future, it'll be interesting to see the discussions pop up around him, given that he's far blander than 1975.

no discussion. Sold out Wembley multiple times. Has multiple number 1 songs. He is somebody they want at one point for sure. At least he moves the needle.

He absolutely can be a prat (his most recent behaviour really got my goat, although I do appreciate his proper apology for it on reddit) but are people really moaning about him playing up at an awards show or other similar behaviour?

What a bland state of affairs we're at where people complain about that kind of silliness. Either much much worse has been done by the complainers' favourite artists or we are really demanding an embarrassingly high bar for behaviour in an industry that is built on mad people doing mad sh*t, and it actually being quite entertaining. The alternative is all frontmen are like Chris Martin. At least Healy makes good copy.

Of course it's Oasis headlining one night. You don't come back after 15 years and play your first gig in Cardiff.

I think they'll do a cheeky warm-up show in Manchester in June. Something like the Apollo or Academy.

Would be a bold gambit to come back and go straight in to play to 70k in the Millennium Stadium tbf. Although if any band is arrogant enough to do that, I think it would be the Gallagher duo.

...the hypothetical discussion would be about how lame Styles' music is, not whether Glasto desires to book him or whether he's popular among punters.

I'll meet you again for a great time watching flash bang brass. Hopefully next time we don't break the stand 😂

Definitely up for another round of that - back row again? 😂

That will be Thursday nights highlight again, then I will convince you to come with me to Friday nights highlight 😜

It’ll be pretty much the same discussion TBH. Both are headliners by pretty much any objective measure. After that it’ll just be whether people like them or not.

I’m a metal head and can say with certainty I preferred Harry Styles last 2 albums than anything I’ve heard the 1975 do.

and I thought Harry’s albums were 4/10

I’d also suggest that in terms of a worldwide audience and ticket sales Harry is a bigger draw than 1975 by quite a margin.

Styles is obviously a bigger act but his music is far more MOR lowest common denominator than The 1975. At least the latter tried to branch out in different genres, even if that meant stealing their sounds.

Aye, Styles would do fine. Not seen him, but belive he has a robust live reputation?

I got dragged along by my niece and can confirm, although not my sort of thing - his show had Glastonbury headliner of the future all over it.

it was extremely well delivered and polished, he’s a cheeky little chap and the songs were pretty catchy and I knew more than a handful of them without being a fan.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
