if you were guaranteed a ticket but not allowed to bring a flag, would you do it. ( that goes for everyone )

don't think that many on here take them to be honest

Have a friend who is close to someone close to Fender camp. Word on the street is that they’re gearing up for a very noisy launch of the new album and are expecting it to take off. Feels like it’s perfectly timed for a Pyramid headline slot?

Not sure there will ever be a better chance for him. It's not that I expect him to spectacularly drop off, but it just feels like the perfect storm to have him do it.

100%. They’re planning to try and properly crack America cause he didn’t get to do his proper tour out there because of Covid and health reasons. Very much feels like Arctic Monkeys doing their brilliant 2013 set and then hitting their mark in the US.

plus War on Drugs lead producing the new album.

Chuffed for Sam Fender as he’s a proper home grown talent whose music carries very important messages and have seen him live a few times and he’s always impressive.

Arctic Monkeys glasto set had nothing to do with breaking america and everything to do with their album AM being very america friendly though

Therefore I think we must consider one of these -  Foo Fighters, Kasabian, maybe even Florence and the machine etc. The Killers, - but actually Stevie Wonder is most-likely the one?

Also - another thought occurring to me - is Madonna out of the question? - I get the feeling that Madonna is an act that actually would benefit from Glastonbury headline slot - she has lost a lot of her 'street cred' over the past decade or so and her personality seems to be someone who wants to remain on top. - she did a free show in Brazil, so she's not against doing shows for low money. perhaps the great pull-out of 2024, was a postponement to 2025?

That being said I think we are looking at

?Fred again? / 1975? - Olivia Rodrigo - Stevie Wonder

That Madonna show in Brazil had a ton of sponsorships which allowed it to be free for the masses. Guaranteed that she still wants the big bucks.

It is curious how AM proved so successful with the US crowd that a different AM song seems to be trending on TikTok all the time. They had DIWK, then I Wanna Be Yours, then 505 (not AM but still them), and apparently No 1 Party Anthem has become a trending song in the last few weeks.

the goverment also put a ton of money into it. It was def more production stuff than actual money. Glasto wasnt going to re do that entire front of the stage to have 3 catwalks and all that. And you remove the front pit too. So they likely werent too hot on the logistics and cost associated. I mean she doesnt compromise. Like this was fairly obvious when she did the super bowl. 2 days before the game during rehearsals, Madonna had inquired about rapelling from the roof of the stadium to start the performance. They had to deny that because there was absolutely zero time to do the safety stuff. Thats how she is and you cant always stop her. Makes Prince look easy. He is just impulsive.

im referring to everyone. Like any random punter. If you couldnt bring a flag but were handed a guaranteed ticket do you do that. And i literally mean there would be zero flags at the fest cause you agreed. No loopholes like the ticket queue.

Regardless of what you think of Coldplay, their size/pull of them is indisputable.

correct, huge, but also you'd have thought cheap and willing to do it any year given their affinity with the festival. Easy booking.

For clarity I do think they're shite and proof the general public cannot be trusted whatsoever.

So, let's just have a handy recap now we've cleared a few more pages.

Olivia Rodrigo seems to be a lock, and despite some information suggesting she'll close the whole shebang, we're leaning towards the Saturday.

The 1975 came out of nowhere last week as a reported replacement for Fred again.. and will play on the Friday.

Sam Fender was previously touted as in the mix, but now seems to be possibly less of a sure thing - or maybe the same.

+ We have one source suggesting that it is Stevie Wonder on the Sunday instead.

+ Talk about Rihanna appears to have completely died on the vine.

Is that about right?

Seems a fair assessment. I’ll update and add The 1975 to our line up pages soon, I can live with calling it wrong! My wild guess is we have at least 2 out of the 3 headliners.

Concur. If I was a betting man - and I know longer am - then I'd say Olivia Rodrigo is pretty much done and dusted, and one of The 1975 and Fender are a close second.

The other is probably third, but enough conflict with the info on Stevie Wonder to put the cat among the pigeons.

I still can't work out why Fred again.. would pass up the spot unless he doesn't feel confident he wouldn't stumble though.

Foo Fighters are off the table. I'd heard that they were in negotiations for R+L and pulled out when Dave's infidelity came out

Yeah, I didn't think they were ever in the frame for this. Just assumed they were headed for R+L. It's been long enough, and they'd be a safe draw at a relative low cost for them.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
