They would have known in advance Sam's plans to an extent surely. Not as if Glasto will be waiting around for tours to be announced the same way punters are. Was also fairly likely he'd be back sooner rather than later.

Indeed. He announced as part of stadium show in Newcastle the new album's rough release with option to buy signed copies etc. He said release now/ new year. If anything it's come a little early.

This last year, would take minutes to find out Sam's plans for 2025. A follow call with management another few minutes.

2005 The Killers subbed the pyramid and obviously went on to headline in future years.

I regards to my now clearly erroneous assertion - good spot. Kasabian subbed twice too before headlining (I should have remembered that as watchign the first on TV made me want to go to Glasto and I was down the front for the second!). It is still rare though and I wonder if there is still something in it given the bump up is rare.

Reading the debate about Stevie Wonder as HL vs Legend, Do you think Cher could fill a headliner slot?

and is she ruled out after rumours spread earlier in the year?

No, and no.

She's not ruled out, just not especially ruled in other than that one article a while back which doesn't seem especially trustworthy. Although that's still more than we have for any other act at this point

I agree that Sam Fender + Newcastle United shitck is a bit much - i personally enjoy it but i can totally see why non Newcastle fans find it off putting - my argument was solely that the SJP gigs were an exception where the "cult-like" stuff was to be expected, and was actively welcomed pretty much from day dot. If you went to those gigs and didn't prepare for it to basically be a "Newcastle United Party w/ Sam Fender" that's on you, outside that specific gig, aye I understand the gripes.

Nonsense.

Yeah I totally agree with this stance too to be fair. I didn't go the SJP because I was at Download that weekend, but I don't think I would have anyways but as you said, it always going to be what it was. The show at the arena was slightly different because we had tickets pre-Covid and then obviously the Fender/Newcastle thing was born in between. But I have seen him since and I maintain that I think he'd put on a show on the Pyramid

Ah, sweet innocents.

Dad loves Bruce, good mates love Bruce. After 40 years of trying to get it - I don’t. Liked that he was a working class Everyman, but recent tour prices f**ked that. Average at best IMO.

Yes, was shared earlier, another possible band resurrection! Don’t hold your breathe on a Glastonbury appearance though. If it means anything, I hope it includes Lindsey. If so, I’ll think about the inevitable pricy Coop Live show.

I don't care about football so maybe this is why but could not give less of a sh*t if theres a few geordies wearing the scarfs. he is still going to play the music

Coldplay at big weekend changing Yellow to Orange  for Luton fans on the other hand - big no.

Seriously though, at glasto it will be completely diluted

Given all that Stevie has been saying about Lindsey of late, if they are resurrecting the band with him included then clearly it’s all about the money, which doesn’t bode well for Glasto. I’d be very surprised if they are doing this though

Nature of the beast imo. For some people not from the region, you'll find it tricky to get swept up in it. For others, it's a bit of fun.

Fleetwood Mac's history is crazy for this though and just doing things that on paper make no sense both for the plot and the bank. Plus, do they even need the cash at this point?

They did a show at Elland Road years ago that leaned a lot more into that kind of thing I think.

This has been something of a note. They've been billing TN as their biggest gig to date, but pretty certain their first Elland Road show had 30,000 in the house. (At least, that's what they've also trumpeted over time.)

    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.
    • Wolf Alice - Newcastle on Blue Light Tickets
    • Having done all three, Porto is lovely, very chilled but nowhere near as exciting as Barcelona (nor as many options). Bilbao BBK has charm but again not a patch on Barcelona really.   ps and the beer was 5.50, not 5, last year 😉
    • Honest question and with the risk of getting slaughtered, do you feel people should stop the chatting on the entire field? When my group is in the front rows we surely keep the talking to a minimum and largely only about how great or bad the artist is. But surely on the main field when you are further back (lets say around the bars (200 meters from the podium) you should be able to have a conversation. If people are still annoyed about that I would recommend them moving up further.
