Have to take the moment to bring Ren back up, as it's a very big week for him! In case anyone isn't aware, his album Sick Boi is newly out and doing incredibly well. It's also totally brilliant. It's looking like it will chart at No.2 in the UK, right behind Rick Astley, but it's all to play for this week and every purchase until Thursday night makes a difference. It's an amazing achievement for an independent artist and the album is fantastic, so if anyone is on the fence please give it a listen. Only a fiver to download.

Followed him for some time. First became aware of him with his old band "Big Push" during lockdown. (They are well worth a trip down the YouTube rabbit hole too)

His stuff (as an old git) just blows me away. I saw that someone had re-arranged "Hi Ren" on piano and what an exquisite melody it is almost like "Fur Elise". (Top Ludwig Van Beethoven choon pop pickers). If he plays G he would fill any stage on site IMO. There are some lovely interviews with him and he comes across as a nice humble guy. He is a huge talent of, dare I say it, Bowie-esque magnitude. He is the real deal.

But most of all I hope that he can win his fight with the debilitating illness that plagues him.

just done a quick bit of research and i don't think hes as big or popular as the claims above,^^^^

cos his facebook has just 127K likes • 153K followers

I also read that he turned down some festivals including glastonbury so it doesn't sound like he'd be playing.

He has 1.1million followers on YouTube and the numbers are currently skyrocketing. Not sure he does much on FB to be honest he is mostly active on Twitch but I do follow him on insta.

Whether or not he plays anywhere next year is all down to his health sadly.

Facebook? You do realise NOBODY under a certain age is using Facebook these days don't you?

He has over a million subs on youtube... To put that into context, Wet Leg have 197k, Fred Again... has 359k, Sam Fender has 223k

He turned down Glastonbury for 2023, due to medical reasons, (he was in Canada undergoing treatment.) He'll be on the farm soon, whether it's this time or next time.

Album charts currently look like this...

1) Rick Astley
2) Ren
3) Holly Humberstone
4) The Streets

Shame him and Holly are up against each other as new entries.

You say youngsters don't use Facebook they all have a Facebook and like the stuff they like.

Midweeks are not the charts, impressive anyway.

No, as somebody who has a 20 year old and a 21 year old, as well as somebody who also employs several 18 to 21 year olds, they really don't. The only under 22 year old I know with Facebook is my 21 year old daughter, and we set that up for her when she was 13, she doesn't use it for any reason other than messenger these days.

It's all about the Gram, Snap, Youtube, or TikTok these days... To socialise and keep in touch they generally use Snap or the gaming chat service that shall not be named, I say gaming, these days it's being used more and more for none gaming reasons, even musicians recognise the need to have a server.

But don't take it from my real life experience... This image says it all, shows why Facebook are extremely worried, and explains why they're desperately trying anything, including rebranding to Meta.

Like I said, don't believe me, read the research, or do your own, there's plenty of sources out there.

I'm 22 mate - everyone i know has facebook but practically nobody actually uses it

You say he only has 153k followers on it, well Fred Again only has 53k followers - one of the biggest acts to break through in recent years.

Given Fred's slot this year this must make Ren a pyramid headliner by your metrics!

not my metric, and those numbers make ren less popular than " one of the biggest acts to break through in recent years."

Please show your workings. I maybe missing something

i posted ren's facebook numbers above somewhere, and then someone decided to compare against fred again and they posted fred's numbers and they  also claimed fred as "one of the biggest acts to break through in recent years."

Aye got that

Just could not work out why Ren is less popular because he has more followers.

Facebook 😂😂 showing your age. No one under 35 engages with Facebook anymore, they might still have it tho.

Where do you get this nonsense from. No one under the age of 35 has ‘liked’ anything on fb since 2015

Where do you get that nonsense from?

Do you think I don't know or observe anyone under 35?
