So AEG couldnt get the building, apply for a license and get it sorted if they can live up to not mucking it up?

Only if Live Nation were prepared to hand it over to their biggest rival.

Edit: And given that AEG already own Hammersmith Apollo, and a third party owns the Troxy - it seems unlikely they'd want to give up that foothold especially to AEG.

Theyll take the money. Already had to hand them over loads for Blink 182 and Skrillex last week. Its a shame the building would go to waste after all this.

They won't have to take the money.

They'll just move Brixton out of AMG and into one of their numerous other divisions, appoint a new manager with suitable experience and that'll get over any licence issues.

2 festival slots at coachella for 2 weekends vs a major venue in the biggest city in the world indefinitely isn't really comparable

Suede dates at Brixton, scheduled for December (and already pushed back once) have just been cancelled.  3 smaller replacement dates at Brixton Electric, so it's not a band-related issue that's forced the cancellation.

Not loking good for reopening any time soon...
