How would y'all rank the six names that appear to be in contention right now? I'd go:

Elton
Rihanna
Eminem
Harry Styles
GnR
AM

In terms of likelihood to play this year…..

AM
GNR
Elton
Harry
Em
Rihanna

The recent surge in Britpop revivals makes you wonder if the Gallaghers are watching with interest.

Maybe calculating the minimum time they'd have to spend together versus the potential payday.

Honestly just don't see it happening especially now Liam has blown up.

Way back in the early 2000s Bill Bailey did the festival every year, and it was quickly apparent that the Cabaret tent was too small for him, one year he did the Fire Stage (outdoor in T&C) but that was rammed and went away.

A few of us did some pushing to get him a slot on the Pyramid in the afternoon, as he could certainly fill it and we'd had a bloody opera on it at that point. Someone finally managed to put the question to Michael Eavis and he said he loved Bill Bailey and there were plenty of places in the festival he could play, but the Pyramid was for music and just music and it wouldn't be appropriate to have in on there.

I don't think Bill's played since.

As @Matt42 points out there have now been lots of non music things on the Pyramid (Corbyn?) - but actually Bill Bailey would be easily capable of creating a show structured around music as well as comedy.

Guess he could go on early in the day as a novelty act for a laugh, would keep the blanket and camping chair posse happy. As a headliner no way.

I think there's a difference between doing a 5-10 minute speech in between acts, especially as they're always individuals who fit in with the festival's ethos - Corbs, Attenborough, Greta, the Dalai Lama, etc - and an hour of standup in place of a musical act.

Not this year either, and he's not as big as Peter Kay (I don't know how the world works).

    • Even with the recent heavy showers it's too early to tell what site conditions would have been like.  The very hot spell would have certainly dried things up considerably, and rain since then has been equalled by a stiff breeze so, without the benefit of actually walking the site, I'd guess ground conditions at present are about perfect.   If we had a festival to look forward to I think the weather watchers would have been at the "all to play for" stage at present.
    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
