Well with Lizzo/Capaldi likely to sub Guns. As pointed out, years back Glastonbury might have had Arctic Monkeys, QOTSA and Royal Blood but here has been a change. Although, Radiohead, The XX and Royal Blood isn't that dissimilar.

IF they aren't under Arctics then I can only see it under Elton and for a act for a locals I can't see Disco 2000, Common People and Do you remember the first time? being bettered by many.

I kinda just don't see Pulp into Arctics, they will blow them away.

The only alternative I see is if say Capaldi was actually Other headliner but that would still mean Lizzo would go 3rd down.

As an experiment I told Chatgpt who was headlining and for it to suggest some other bands to play.

Sure! Here are some ideas for an undercard for a festival headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Guns n' Roses, and Elton John:

  1. The Strokes
  2. Fleetwood Mac
  3. The Black Keys
  4. The 1975
  5. Lana Del Rey
  6. Vampire Weekend
  7. The Kooks
  8. Tame Impala
  9. The xx
  10. The Cure

If we take out the ones that are definitely wrong Fleetwood Mac and The Cure and those not touring/releasing this year Vampire Weekend and The XX then we'll see how many the robot gets out of the remaining 6 I don't think the rest are far off although the Strokes always seem unlikely!

Imagine if it turned out there really was some sort of metric for who would fill each slot and it worked it out and gave us it.

Lizzo is on Saturday apparently but that prediction is why it wouldn't happen lol. It's so heavily stacked.

Other sub and 3rd Friday would be one up.

Belle and Sebastien won't be 4th pyramid and Maneskin 6th...switch maybe.

Bon Iver and The Black Keys both head other and sub respectively.

Sam Smith is a sub. The Prodigy and Lana would both play the same slot. Anne-Marie is Other sub, she played 4th equivalent in 2019 with no arenas.

Wet leg wont come back to only be bumped from park to john peel. Would be other or even pyramid

self esteem played JP last year and would again need to be other or pyramid to make it worth bothering coming back

Yard Act will be on a televised main stage, as they were not last year

PJ Harvey anywhere would be amazing but i have serious doubts

Any chance of mcfly making a return?

Very doubtful this year i expect but both them and sugababes fully deserve a larger stage after the Avalon antics this year.

Keen to see who the “way too big to play avalon” artist(s) will be this year!

the problem is the main stages generally do not book a great deal of “heritage” acts and are more a flavour of what is current that year. Its not fixed, but for example why have we never seen the likes of human league play a big stage? The festival just doesnt book a lot of heritage acts on main stages, outside of the legends slot, the odd pyramid bit here and there and genuine genre specific legends on west holts.

Given Sclub 7 are rumoured to be touring I wouldn't be too surprised to see them do the Avalon slot you mention.

I thought Mcfly were brilliant, not sure if that was anything to do with my group all being together for the time all weekend and just merry in the sun but it was excellent.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
