Saw Ezra Collective on Thursday at Bristol Beacon. Great venue, great show, would smash any slot on the Farm. West Holts headliner maybe?

Did the same tonight in Manchester, it was incredible. High energy start to finish, really good set list (loved hearing Bumblebeee especially) and a great crowd.

I recently saw Shelf Lives and wow what a great gig! Wouldn't surprise me if they rock up on the BBC Intro stage in June . Definately 'One To Watch'.

Julien Baker last night ...amazing, definitely the strongest of the 3 Boy Genius members

but i will never get queuing up before a gig, people were in the queue 3 hours before in the pouring rain.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit last night at the Apollo. Got a cheap resale ticket at last minute, main reason for going was i like the Drive by Truckers and Jason was a member when they did a couple of my favourite albums. Anyhoo no massive expectations but my word it was a great experience. He has a fine voice, a stellar band and some absolutely great tunes. Not sure how to define it, live, they are far more rockier than on record, epic guitar solo’s, and acoustic ballads all beefed up. Terrific stuff. Heartily recommend although i think they are at the end of their euro tour for this year.

I went last night and tbh I expected better. Vocals were a bit off, crowd (although loving it) were very passive and though she was better and more raw without the band. Prefer listening to the albums than live after lat night, but great singer/songwriter though. Didnt really like the venue either.

Saw AatS at Glastonbury 2022. They were up against Diana Ross, so an no-brainer 😂 Amy Taylor is a whirlwind and the band rock. Really hoping they have a slot at G2025.

Within Temptation had a pretty wretched figure in terms of crowd numbers in Leeds last night, but were reliably bombastic fun.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at Brighton Dome on Monday. Excellent gig, band sounded tight and crowd were very appreciative. For some reason I was expecting something more acoustic, soft sounding, but plenty of big guitar sound front and centre. Everyone seemed in fine form and would definitely catch again in future.

Some hot, epic guitar battles — neither flashy nor shredding in terms of fastness — raised the roof.

 

Great American music all the way.

Courteeners last night in Leeds. Didn't sell out the arena - top wings curtained off - but pretty much full everywhere else. DMAs in support were a popular choice, though missed Reverend and the Makers as I was in the pub.

 

Pretty much a straight bat with not much deviation these days. Fray seems to have improved his pop chops as a songwriter - Solitude of the Night Bus and Pink Cactus Cafe from the new record are quite good - but live, they're still pretty much a straight bat with a frontman that seems to be lost in his own cosplay sometimes.

Went to see Been Stellar in Manchester last night and they were decent enough. Really only bought tickets coz Cardinals were supporting. They just get better and better.

She wasn't great at Shep's Bush in 2018 or APE 2019 either. She has a strong voice, but not necessarily a versitile one.

I saw Confidence Man last night at Newcastle NX. I'd first seen them at Glastonbury this year and loved them so much, I immediately used some of  my precious data at the festival to book tour tickets! They were just as fantastic in a sweaty little club as on the Other Stage. Place was jumping, even the new album tracks got a massive reception, just a really fun show altogether.
