J&J have put in their CMA submission to the EMA...could be rolled out by March if approval timeline follows the others (and it’s a fairly straightforward dataset compared to OX/AZ)...parallel vaccination programmes if that one gets though with later groups moved swiftly up the list I’d imagine!

Isn't that the one shot one?
Could EU countries effectively catch up with the UK, if they only to do one shot?

Wow - that must have been weird? You missed a lot of the first lockdown here?

Got back at Easter, so still had quite a bit of lockdown here. Indian lockdown was more strict - could only go outside to get food or for medical treatment, so we spent a lot of time watching netflix and eating takeaway.

It's funny looking back at my Google maps timeline, starts off like "I'm traveling around the world, my life's so exciting" and suddenly becomes "I haven't been outside for several days"!

But we had a couple of reports on here yesterday of asthmatics being invited for a vaccine. Is this happening?

This doesn’t seem great?

It’s to do with how serious your asthma is. If you have severe asthma you should have already been offered a vaccine (and should be shielding). If you require medication to control your asthma or have ever had an emergency hospital admission then you’ll be in group 6 and should be getting vaccinated soon.

The idea is to remove mild asthmatics like my sister who have absolutely no business being vaccinated soon.

I think before pretty much everyone with asthma was on the list, but now it’s just if you meet certain criteria

From what I can see it looks like the JVCI have said there isn’t enough risk of death, but that’s just from the comments in that Tweet.

My brother has very mild asthma. Definitely the kind of person to be excluded according to today's announcement.

Yep, currently one shot, could end up getting a booster later in the year when the results of their 2 shot trial arrive, but even at 1 shot, 100% protection from severe disease and death...that’ll do pig!

Update from my recent post on the Manchester vaccination centres: You may not believe this but we’re on the 50s age group today, most we did today were between 55 and 65, some even younger. I think we must be ahead of much of the country but it’s looking amazing from what I see. Yet it’s supposed to be the UK only starting the 65+ this week so I don’t know if we’re the exception or they’re not declaring the full stats.

Yeah my sister hasn’t even used her inhaler in years

My girlfriend is the same - we had no idea she was in that group previously, just assumed she wouldn't be.

This is odd to be defending this government again, but it looks like they might be simply re-prioritising, not just trying to cut the numbers artificially to hit a target.

I reckon this will make a huge difference to hospitalisations when things open up more, there's been a lot of anecdotal talk about many younger in ICU being...larger...so this makes so much sense.

Ah so their booster isn't within a certain timeframe? Surely the same here if so, one dose for younger people ASAP.

When does UK expect delivery does anyone know? Assuming approval won't be far off

yeah...India altogether is amazing...but on first day getting lost in Mumbai probably wasn't the best start. Looked simple on map, so didn't take it, doh. It's definitely a shock to the system that place, sensory overload, but you get used to it after a while. I would say that my missus wasn't so taken with India, I think much easier being male. Oh, and be careful what you eat!

Delhi 2003....first morning we walked to the station to buy our rail tickets to Agra and got collared by some young lads touting for a travel agency in a tuktuk.  Took a detour to lose them at a junction and without noticing stepped over something on the pavement.  Turned round to look and it was a nicely shrouded corpse lying there in the fuggy heat.

Welcome to India......the maddest most amazing trip we've ever taken.  I long to return.

Are the U.K. under playing how far ahead we are with the vaccinations so they don’t get into a war of words with the EU again? Or is it under promising and over delivering?

Either way, my dad and step dad were jabbed last weekend slightly earlier than the government announcement to go to 65-69, and my soon to be mother and father in law are being jabbed tomorrow, one of them is in the 60-64 group
