2021 Headliners

I feel like Swift is the headliner they least need to prioritise getting to return next year. Macca is important because who knows how many years he has left in him, this might be his last chance to headline. Kendrick is important because with everything going on in the world, having him headline next year could be iconic.

Whereas Swift is just some pop singer

Ken said that Kendrick doesn’t like to tour around his birthday and his birthday is in June (few days before the festival).

Luckily his birthday doesn't change date. Copy/pasting this years tour to next year could be a solution!

Also, Ken. 🙄

Perhaps Kendrick could be enticed onstage with a Colin the Caterpillar cake, the big fucking toddler.

Or get Alex Turner onstage to sing him a rendition of Happy Birthday

So sounds like they are going with some of the 2021 acts they had pencilled in, so a mix of 2020 and 2021. I thought Emily was a bit coy on how they're going to bring together almost two years of festival to one.

I imagine some of the pencilled 21 acts will be pushed back to 22. I doubt many will have signed anything this far out anyway.

I think Kendrick couldn't give a damn about performing while it's his birthday.

Don't know where that made up story comes from.

Ken said that he never tours in June as it is as he is usually busy with private commitments, and his 2020 June tour was planned pretty late on.

It sounds weird and random but it stacks up. Also I’ve learnt to totally believe Ken on anything he says because he’s usually bang on correct. Even if it sounds dumb.

It did seem that things were very up in the air for next year though and my hunch is still the same as you. I find it difficult to see how many new acts for 2021 will actually fit in, given all the rescheduling. Certainly with the bigger acts - there will be a real lack of big outdoor venues after everyone rolls over, not to mention it could be a struggle selling tickets given the economy and people retaining their 2020 tickets.

I reckon they'll get shifted up to headliner if someone pulls out and they can't get a decent replacement

Its an option but if Arctics are playing Sheffield dates early June then they are an easy choice. As I said before I wouldn't mind if Mumfords do it if Thom Yorkes playing Friday. An evening at West Holts with B Bar listening to Thom would be delightful.

    • Ohhh it’s very, very good.
    • I'm sure you like silly music too but is it because it's not a Download traditional type act it gets looked down on? Rock am Ring booked them, and they sell every year so don't actually need to   Andy going and being replaced is the best thing that could have happened to Download, someone fresh to mix it up a bit rather than just a complete rotation. The only reason Andy booked ST in ti headline too was because he loves them and he was going on to manage them. Nah, Andy booked FOB in a year where over 20 acts were asked, I'll guarantee if they get Blink and having had Green Day they did not need 20 bands to come to those. FOB are also not one that have been booked in Europe to headline by anyone other than Reading as co-headliner as far as I can see. They weren't a ooh god yes they've booked FOB.
    • Would love to see them headline as well, but agree with Mr Bailey ☹️
    • I think it's just a slight shift in target audience of the festival, Andy also booked FOB    A lot of young people (me included) are nostalgic for the 2000's pop punk and nu metal rather than the 80's legacy bands    It's just the festival moving with the times I think Andy would of done the same    Although they are still booking some legacy acts like GNR but that doesn't seem to have gone well ticket sales wise
    • Trent said he’s working on new Nine Inch Nails musicnand that Coachella was the farewell show for Nine Inch Noize.   Would be over the moon to have any of the options at Prima 2027, though
