Cider has been coming up on other threads as regularly as Radiohead used to before we got it out of our system, so I want a dedicated thread for cider.  I bloody love the stuff, a realer the better.

visited his farm a couple of years ago, he just gives you a half pint glass and it’s help yourself. Dry, sweet or a mix of the two. We were such a fan we ordered 20l for our wedding you just call him up and he arranged to post it to London using Royal Mail. He didn’t even want advance payment just said to send him a cheque once it arrived.

Wilkins Cider is legendary and Rodger is an amazing character! Saw a Wilkins Cider flag popping up a lot one year, so I know we aren’t the only fans. 

Only thing i’d say is one year we all bought a load of 5l containers on one of the hot years. By the second day the containers were all swelling up ready to explode!

Sure you is an expert but these bladders will explode in the sun and heat we will be getting...

We've ordered stuff from Lilley's previously and picked up on the way down, but this year, my mate is bringing some from his village in Dorset, so I think that will be scrumpier than usual. I'll get told off by mates on site as these are out of the county.

I’m a big fan of perry and was thinking of picking up some from Heck’s in Street.https://www.heckscider.com/product/blended-perry/ Anyone had any from there?  Or recommend a different perry

I dont drink perry but am told that it is really good. I drink his cider and that is excellent.

My other half is a cider drinker and has just discovered Friels Cider, currently on offer at Tesco 2 X 6 packs for £9. Or Morrisons have a 5l keg for £16

I think you may be right about that.  The Port Wine Of Glastonbury runs it a close second.

fits with the case that if it isn't from Somerset you have to ask if it is really cider ?

I know that Weston's keeps but how well do Heck's and Lilly's keep unrefrigerated?

I think they're all similar. Lilly's and Roger Wilkin both told me that the bags keep for about a month once opened. I imagine Heck's will be much the same. If Roger's stuff keeps, then anything will, since it's about as natural as you can get. I suppose a really weak, natural cider with added sugar might go off sooner, but I'd expect anyone who got into the adulteration to that extent will have added preservatives.

Personally, I'm aiming to have my cider arrive the week before the festival and to open it on the Wednesday and finish it by the Saturday.  That should be a short enough window to stay fresh.

I took 25L in 5L bladders in 2015 which was a fairly warm one and I didn't have any issues

I kept them in rucksack in my tent and found they kept quite chilled, the last one was actually cold on Monday morning

As S2H says, about a month afterwards. I had the remnants of 2 boxes and they were fine for ages.
