Isn't the moon supposed to be smaller than the earth? ?

I was saying this today to my other half, but if they made them to scale the moon would be a bit shit. My engineering brain can't get past it though, it's not to scale!!

Actually, that's wrong, I couldn't resist doing the maths.

The distance between the earth and the moon is 30x the diameter of the earth, much less than I thought, so assuming the earth at the base of the crane is around 5-10m wide it would be a couple if hundred metres away (and a quarter of it's current diameter).

Just seen the pyro on the speaker stacks testing and it’s pretty cool. No fire from the actual crane yet.

The moon was hanging from the crane earlier and there’s plenty of lasers and lighting on the boom of the crane.

Still have faith in Arcadia to pull this off.

And there’s outward facing speakers from the DJ area of the crane so not just the same circular inward facing sound field.

Yeah, I thought you were exaggerating on purpose and didn't want to be that guy to get the calculator out to correct you ?

Do we have any set times for shows? Hoping to watch it all from the Tow and Hitch tonight.

No shows apparently.

    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
    • Shambles. Transport and comms garbage. Been looking forward to this since last June and have never been to a more disorganised festival in 30+ years.  Why we were told the whole festival was cancelled for the night if they had put back shows for a few hours?  Pissed off to say the very least and put a huge downer on the rest of the weekend.
    • Rotten communication. Actually god awful. Posting sporadically on IG, closing Mordor only to reopen and cause some serious carnage. Left the festival as it got too much for my 16year old daughter. She was devastated about Alex G and Mac…but TV girl could have saved it. Took us until 1220 and already home to find out they might/are playing. Pish.    and on another note, this festival has lost its bastard soul. Gone are the wee tents with local sellers selling vinyl, t shirts etc, now you can buy a 50 f**king eur official T-shirt. The ar*e is truely out of this event now. I went to Porto for the first time last year and it was fab. I love Barcelona and the line up is always stacked, but this festival is a corporate loss take. Hopefully a better day tomorrow.
    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
