The Streets confirmed to headline Victorious on the 29th of August. Does this make them more/less likely to headline the R1? I reckon less likely tbh.

Victorious on the Saturday and SW4 on the Sunday so they're out now too, Mike Skinner or The Streets could always do something on the Thursday at Leeds though like Skinner has done in the past

Rage Against the Machine as a European exclusive would be quite a booking

It would be an instant day ticket sale for me. I am someone that vowed never to return to R&L again after 2014.

I reckon this is a demographic that consists of more than just me. It would 100% attract many people back to reading who haven’t been for years.

They know they’ve been going down hill these last few years and they’re starting the new decade off with a lineup for the ages.

Eminem / RATH / BMTH / LG / RHCP / stormzy / travis / MCR / green day

losing the pit and the FR stages and just stacking the main stage with bangers all day.

RATM are known to sign up for things or sort things quickly. Rumours are that Coachella was organised pretty soon after they decided to reunite, and we know that Prophets of Rage had an entire 2020 tour which has now been scrapped.

Maybe Rage didn’t have any plans to come to Europe but R&L really tried to make it happen.

Depends how much money were thrown at them i'm sure they'd make the trip over for a Fuck Brexit show if the money was right

That's cool. Would make a great Festival Republic headliner, for me. I don't think a single soul at R&L would have heard their most recent record but they've got a good back catalogue. Hard for anyone who played FIFA through 2011-2015 to not have a soft spot for em -  Call It What You Want and Are You What You Want To Be? brings back good memories. Houdini and Coming of Age are good too.

R1 I reckon surely - the crowd of people who want to see pumped up kicks would be large I think, obviously at headliner time many people will be met with the clash and probably choose someone else as they only have the one big song, so mid-R1 would make more sense I think (or maybe i just want to see them without a clash)

Also people would swarm there from main to catch the end of their set once the mainstage headliner finishes if they don't finish first. Last played glasto mid Other so I think this slot would work best (R1 instead of other)

If it's RATM and Stormzy then i shall be getting a weekend ticket no questions asked. Seen LG already and he was good but that's a great set of headliners. Especially if BMTH show up too. Lots of people my age (21) who never really got a chance to see Rage.

Absolutly getting a weekend ticket if they are performing with them 2 headliners

Who would sub at that rate?

Can imagine:

Stormzy >> Bring me the Horizon, R1 Vampire Weekend

Liam Gallagher >> Tyler the Creator, R1 TDCC

Rage against the Machine >> Run the Jewels, R1 Dua Lipa

I think Dua is too big for Radio 1 even up against Rage. I don’t think she will be at Reading as it’s probably sub or nothing for her.

Run The Jewels at Reading would be cool but I don’t see it. I don’t think the Rage day would be catered towards Rage, I think it would be a standard Reading day with Rage on top of it. I don’t think Reading would really be able to pull together an entire day which appeals to Rage fans. Not in 2020.

I think tyler would sub on any given grime/rap day if anything + TDCC headlining R1 rather than subbing or third down on mainstage would be a bit of a step down imo

Everyone seems so confident about RATM coming... but it is not a secret anymore that they'll be touring in Europe in 2021, so why all of these coms' about them, did I miss something ??  :D

@Dan Wilcox who is this forums most reliable (and sometimes least reliable source) has said it's going to be Stormzy / LG / RATM but he's a wind up merchant so we'll have to wait and see

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
    • Beartooth? Or are they a bit to shouty shouty
    • May   1. Josiah and The Bonnevilles - As Is 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia’s Been Good To Me 3. The Coral - 388
    • That would be my dream trio based on bands that have been rumoured
