It utterly stuns me though that right wingers can manage to do the festival and keep the blinkers on.

The reason the festival is what is it, and has the atmosphere and acts it does, is down to that philosophy - if it was being run for maximum profit for minimum outlay, with full on profiteering from every act and business involved, it would be VASTLY more expensive with tickets easily twice the price or more. The line ups wouldn't be released but an extra £20 for the program when you got in. There'd be absolutely no food or drink allowed in with punters, it would all have to be bought from the traders and they'd all be miserable only able to make a pittance as the pitch fees would be as high as the market would bear.

 

All of this slides right past them - it's blindness or wilful ignorance, happy to reap the benefits of other's kindness and generosity without appreciating it or what it achieved at all.

Statistically, there's likely to be loads of Tory voters at the festival.

The chances are they'll keep quiet, they certainly did at Download last week when the bands were doing their Labour ramblings between songs.

Im not a Tory myself but I'd certainly not be ashamed or keep quiet if I was.

Saying that, when The King Blues were getting the crowd to chant 'Tory c**ts', one bloke shouted 'Torys rock' just when it went quiet, ha ha.

Whilst I'm of mixed opinion about Mr Corbyn: agreeing heavily with certain issues of his and vehemently opposed to others, I believe that people should stop picking sides, and treating the opposition as an enemy. 

If people want to go to appreciate his message at the Pyramid, by all means go along, I wish the Corbynistas well. I ain't gunna stop them. But I shan't be attending (Busted must be seen)

If people want to ruin it with water bombs, it'll make a fool of themselves. It's just not effective and unpleasant, at what should be a good festival what ever your political opinion for all.

they do but I did get a bit miffed at my political opinions being wrong when she was happy accepting my parental freebies and time for her to go out in the big wide world and make it on her own...heavily persuaded by me of course.

Now her views are respected as she funds her own lifestyle and has done well.... she is not the staunch socialist she once was and can see my opinions were not so far out there, but we enjoy debating the differences we still have .

The right wingers on here really are tiresome sometimes. No one is asking you to go and see Corbyn. I might pop down if there's not much else on but there's a fair chance I won't be there. 

But why on earth complain about him being there? What harm does it do? It's part of what the festival is all about, it's part of the values the festival was founded on. Not everyone has to go but complaining about its presence makes you look like a narrow minded little twat to be honest.

You should embrace her having opinions of her own, lots of folk just spout views they have heard from their parents, but when asked to clarify don't necessarily know what they mean or why.

And assuming she's not trying to persuade you to join the revolutionary communist party or to buy a copy of socialist worker you could have a bit of perspective

All furious at the lack of advertising or corporate sponsorship.  

Dyspeptic at the anti-war ethos, because the fest clearly doesn't care about the jobs that the arms industry creates.  

Livid that the profits go to charity rather than shareholders.

I certainly do, and I am not your right wing blind type and can certainly some of the labour positives... after all we both want the same thing we just find the roads to get there are slightly different

They're really trying to discourage balloons due to the waste. If you must take them please take all empty canisters and balloons with you. Neither decompose.

I think its perfecty ok for the festival to have political leanings however I must admit that I see a lot of hypocrisy too.

For example, take a look around you on Monday at all the rampant consumerism and waste. How does this fit into "for the people policies"? Britain the worlds 5th largest consumer market once again taking a large share of resources and leaving it dumped on a field. How much of that gear was made in third world sweat shops I wonder? This is despite the multiple charities and messages relentlessly trying to educate people to be more considerate.

It seems that when it suits them, a fair amount of Glastonbury goers may have a lot more in common with the Tories they vilify than they realise.

Errr if your going to get away from politics, your going to the wrong place. 

Ill be assuming you wont watch any of the main stage acts then.. As the ads in between for wateraid and the like will ruin "your" festival.  Going to glastonbury to escape politics is like gping to the namib desert to escape the sun. Id say quite impossible.
