  1. I was just about recommend this... Great wee book.
  2. Yup, but as a young Scotsman in his 20s then I was suitably hammered with a crowd of mates, my only two memories of the gig are a big row of us sitting down swaying as if in a boat doing a drunken "I am sailing" and wearing a bobbies hat and posing topless for a photo with the cop. Can't remember anything of him or the music.

They done the training via zoom last year. I'd imagine this will be the way going forward. The camp site Being beside block 9 isn't ideal.

It's unlikely 2 of them will be wed Thurs, more likely to be the 3 big days than other way round. Over 20 years of bar volunteering I've had a right mix, most swing to the busier bar nights... Thur, Fri and sat.. they try to be fair, prepare for the worst, anything else is a bonus

Hola, defo drop Hannah at shelter an email. I got an email last week to say that the priority spaces will be opening up the end of this month for first dibs before going public. defo in the past i have missed a year then went the following on priority with no hassles, i would check this aint changed. Im going to send an email to find out, as i dont think i am gonna go this year but want to go next year.. if thats not the case i might end up going.
  8. Arctic Monkeys - 0% Only seen them once, i think it was 2004/05 when they supported Carbon/Silicon in the Sheffield Lead mill. I dont dislike them, they just don't appeal to me either and even if i wasnt on shift at the bar.. there would be plenty of other things on that id much prefer seeing. GNR - 33.3% They were rid rotten last time i seen them at Leeds, but would be willing to give them another shot. I am in the camp that wouldnt go to one of their stadium gigs but would like to see them and depending on who they are up against would take the opportunity at glasto. Melton John - 50% Elton was one that was a cert on to go and see, until i watched that Disney show. I can see half of his gig being an absolute drag with some highlights throughout. Still id never pay to see him anywhere and would like to have the opportunity... unless the Prodigy are put on the other stage at the same time. if so, id be at the prodigy in a heart beat. Seems the forum is set on these 3 headliners, no female this year? or is there a surprise still to come.
  9. After watching the Disney gig, id skip Elton in a heart beat for prodigy. There hasn't been one duff gig since I first seen them in the early 90s. It'll be non stop bangers, Elton may have moments but I'm not sure overall gig wise it will be as satisfying 😃

There is no doubt that the shifts have more of an impact than say the oxfam ones where you get a shift out the way before the main 3 festival days. There are times when i have had a shift Fri, Sat and Sun of the festival. altho this is rare, it is a possibility. the bars tend to be busier on the thurs, fri and sat than any other days and the shifts are always gonna lean towards the busy times *they make this clear when you sign up to volunteer and its something to be aware about if your going to do the bars that potentially youll be missing two of the 3 nights of bands., Does it impact me tho, now it doesnt really. I wouldnt be at the festival if i wasnt volunteering or working in some capacity. The older i get the less tolerant i have become of queues , lack of home comforts and the rest. Added to my favourite part of the festival now being the performing arts (circus and theatre), i dont do class A's nor do i drink alcohol anymore and i havent been in the south east corner the past two festivals (thats a lie... i went in last year and made a swift exit as i wasnt enjoying it!_ im happy now to get to see what i get the chance to. if there was a corner of the festival that started at 6am.. that would be my corner now, im up with the morning joggers 🙂 volunteering suits me just fine now, happy to be giving back to the fest and still getting to be part of it that way.

The shelter route was a pain in the erse last year. Prior to fest I had train tickets and accomodation booked for London, travelling from Glasgow. My own doing booking in advance before announcement, tho train tickets need to be bought in advance for a decent price. Ended up having to book extra transport from London and Bristol accomodation. My own dilemmas out of the way, I would never rely on workers bus to get you off site for a designated time, too many variables out with control to guarantee a 9 or 10am departure off site. I know they say first packed up first go , your then reliant on a bus company/driver plus logistics and I've seen that go sour over the years. I prefer another over night on way home or similar. The shelter decision was apparently based on lack of bus hires and drivers etc after covid. Let's see if it changes back this year or not. They had mini buses with no room for luggage meaning the isles where piled up to the height of the seats with all the luggage and no room to move. A bit dodgy and altho I'm all for breaching rules etc, im more for a bit of comfort in aulder age. If it's the same shenanigans this year, it could be my last with shelter and I'll look at alternative options . Despite the transport issues, the rest was great. Hopefully won't be the same this time round and the transport announced will come in time for people like zigster and moi to book transport to the buses in adequate time.

    Paul Heaton

Great pics, seen them on the acoustic stage before. It was packed right out inside and out. I'd like to see them on a bigger stage.
  13. the nightmare before Christmas last night at Wembley arena.. With the cast doing it live, guest pheobe bridgers , London p orchestra. was Incredible with orchestra playng over video. was perfect sound, timing and great experience. Made me think today, some classical orchestra again a big musical sing song with video would go down a treat. Was very impressed with the sound last night. There's been a few over the years, hacienda and I remember listening to ride of the valkaries on the pyramid. Tho I imagine the cost and logistics of many of these productions rule most out.

    Guns n Roses

Don't spoil my bubble that it was just a decision in the moment to make it special.☺️. He is a professional entertainer.

    Guns n Roses

I thought I remembered it as him playing Islands in the stream twice. I didn't think he played the gambler twice as well. I could be wrong tho,too many Glastos effect the memory. Kudos to him to tho, he played what people wanted to hear.
  16. Went to the War of the world's immersive experience last night, absolutely brilliant. Mix of theatre, VR and decent bar plus food prices. Very impressed with how it was done and plays on all the senses over a 100 minute walk through. We paid 50 quid a ticket, compared to gig prices etc money well spent for the entertainment. Highly recommend if your about London and in your face theatre is your thing. Think I'm gonna drag my son round some iconic music locations today, heddon st, Camden market (rehearsals rehearsal s n abbey road)..
  17. thanks for taking time to put links above, here are some of mine. I dont know how much they get paid, although over the years a few hundred grand has been the figure flung about on here. A few hundred grand is not shite money. artists are greedy bastards, as are a lot of people involved with them.
  19. Err, not so sure ill go along to see Elton now, i was a 100 percent cert.. i am now going to be a depends what s on the other stages. If there is someone i like who is defo the mutts nuts live, ill easily be swayed away from Elton. i made the mistake of watching the show on Disney from the gig in America. Its defo a reality checker of a show. if your super excited, ill echo an earlier post and say dont watch it and keep your optimism!
  20. echo this, did you see them a few years ago on the Park? the singer was absolutely smashed, leathered, pure wrecked, total rock n roll carnage... even had a casual throw up during the set on stage and carry on with the gig. they were really good live.
  21. , they done this the last time i seen them in glasgow. ii find things like that annoying and off putting... a bit like the old, "i heard you are so much louder than England" nonsense. just play the f+++in tunes 🙂
  22. Sorry to hear all this and wishes with you.. i also believe there will be a lot to come in the future about the covid jabs in regards info and deaths etc. I work in health and social care, i havent been vaccinated despite the pressure on us over the last few years and being threatened with our jobs, not getting paid for being a contact etc. i know 2 people in glasgow who suffered serious side effects, both under 40. one has been bed bound for over 7 months now and the same happened, the nhs wouldnt acknowledge it. Its almost as if you cant speak or question anything to do with the vaccines causing any injury. its really sad and if you do you are slated an anti vaxxer etc, ive even seen the term on these forums which i thought would be more accepting of people's personal decisions. I hope you get things sorted and are listened to, there was enough of an outcry when there was excess deaths with covid. now there are excess deaths from all age groups across the world higher than what there should be and no one is wanting to look at the reasons why.
  23. OOohh exciting, i haaen't been to a pyramid stage headliner since Springsteen and i was going to give this glastonbury a swerve for a family holiday instead.. but if ELton gets announced i will be changing my mind and going.. bring on the confirmation.. or not.
  24. Yeah the nightmare before xmas is danny elfman and Phoebe Bridgers doing the show live, to be fair i have never seen or heard it before, I'm going in blind. Was all my sons idea to go.. Jeff Wayne in the bar!! you cant get any more immersive than that! 😄 did you pull it together to have a chat? ill be keeping my eyes peeled in case (now that i have googled to see what he actually looks like!)
  25. Not been to any the past couple of months, but love the theatre and musicals... next week going to see Nightmare before christmas in london and have booked up War of the Worlds Immersive experience for the day before, love a good bit of "immersive" experience interactive theatre.. anyone been?
