New security measures in place

My brother is insisting on taking his laptop so he can work while at Glasto (I'm making him use the lockups!!). I've heard of people being made to take radios back to the car because of the new security checks. Do you think they'll do that for his laptop too?

No different to how you'll have them confiscated at airport security but can then buy them in duty free 30 seconds after you've got through the gate. Ridiculous but that's just how it is.

Didn't see anything being confiscated. They patted down my cool bag but that was it. No different to normal really!

I know but they can go in your suitcase can't they... just a bit OTT for me... if someone has gone to the trouble of getting a ticket, and if their intention is a massive terrorist attack I'm not sure what  they are going to do with an aerosol and pen knife ... death by odour more likely

I honestly think a lot of the stuff on twitter is scare mongering or people just wanting hits. Why on earth would they confiscate deodorant FFS it's bonkers. They won't be getting my deodorant

Ok arrived about 2 hours ago. Campervan East. No search whatsoever on entry. Nothing. Not collected wrist bands yet. Will update as do.

Wow. Not sure what to say. I've just spent 15 minutes arguing with the guys checking tickets that I'm me. Ok I've put on a stone but I'm clearly me on my ticket. 

My gf had to show them a pic of my drivers license (which i luckily sent her Monday) for them to let me in. 

Anyhoo I'm in and that's all that matters.

Thought I'd add my two cents. We got in about 2.50 and while security where there they weren't checking anybody. No pat downs, no bag checks, nothing. Felt the same as normal really except you had to walk past the security but it made no difference. Blazing heat when we went through and they were misting people with water and giving out water bottles so maybe they decided it was dangerous at that time of day to keep people standing. So in summary from coach to wristband in less than an hour for us!

I was searched about 3pm Wednesday with a small rucksack, coming from campervan fields. Reason given for stopping me  instead of the 20+ that went through was that I was wearing a Welsh Football bucket hat!!!! Then subjected to several xenophobic comments.... luckly I'm very thickest skinned and able to give as good as I got and made them look like the inadequate individuals they were
