I'm going to bend the rules and ignore the secret opening track (need to rewind from start to find it), and the 90 second 'intro', to go for:

Led Zep 4 and Joshua Tree are hard to beat, but a album new to me that has a sensational opening salvo is:

first 5 tracks blew me away when i first listened and hope to see her performing at least the first 4 in 8 weeks time.

Yeah that Laura Marling album has a fantastic opening run. Wasn't too in to her before that album but was immediately won over on first listen after hearing those first few songs.

I have given the Roses some stick on here, but that debut album remains the best album I have ever heard.

Although it'd be even more spectacular if Songs for the Deaf, the 4th track, were 3rd

God I wish Doves were still playing. Probably one of the bands I miss the most at festival, they were always superb live at Glastonbury (2005 being one of my favourite Glasto sets ever)
