Do it. It won't be as unpleasant as you remember. It might not be nice, of course, but at least get one to try out.

Yea tempted myself too, but isn't there a slight risk of coming home after the festival and drinking special brew every day for the rest of your life while hanging about outside the local post office.

Also, thanks stu for the offer of help on the ticket earlier.

It would be great if Wild Beer company were there. I'm considering taking a couple of cans of the Human and Unhuman Cannonball from Magic Rock, as they're nice and strong and should be tasty a bit warmer too.

That's tough talk. I brought a couple of standard issue Cannonballs last year, along with a few other 6/7% IPAs.... sticking strictly to session strength ales this year!!

Grimbergen has definitely been there for a couple of years, quick Google says they had 'Swedish craft beers' in 2015 too.

I'm adamant I had a few Swedish pilsner style beers there on Thursday evening last year. Pretty good too.

The West Country has some amazing breweries, aside from the already mentioned Wild Beer, Moor and Wiper & True there's also Arbor in Bristol and Deya in Cheltenham. Seems a real shame not to have at least one of them at the festival.

Having said that, I've just had a Beavertown Bloody 'Ell and I think that would probably be my perfect festival beer. I'm tempted to buy a load from their site but I don't trust myself not to drink it all in a week!

Yeah. And to add insult to injury, there's Wally's Bar, that sells decent stuff, but is a crew only bar. Very annoying that it's so widely publicised, but you can't get in if you paid for your ticket.

Why did they change that as you could go in 2013 but seemed to change rules following year... it's an awesome bar

its not a beer place though is it. Its cider country! Its great to drink cider at the festival as its something a little different, and mostly very enjoyable. Plus if you want specialist beer you can just bring your own with you.

Also bear in mind that the big contract with Tuborg or whatever crap lager they serve will severely limit what else is available. The cornish arms is a one location small player. Beat Hotel has San Miguel, one location. Then there is the real ale bar and the ales on the main bars coming directly from the cask (with no handpump, which is an awful dispensing method).

If you want a beer festival, attend one?

More bars sell San migel you know, Cornish arms and theatre bar for a start

I even watched a video of it getting built last year, looked at the drinks list and got excited.

Then realised it was for crew. Ah bollocks.

I have never made it as my crew site is at the end of the old railway track so its a long walk just for a drink.

Glad I'm right about something!

I'm not normally a wine drinker, but it's too much hassle trying to keep beers cool and they weigh too much to take on public transport. I'd take spirits, but I'm completely unable to regulate my alcohol intake with it. The first thing I find out about getting pissed is that my legs are unable to function. :D

I know! Boxes of red wine are the way at Glasto.

AND yes you're right. Its impossible to track until you realise you've had a whole box of wine and you cant move!

How many did you get? Was only able to buy one of each in the Glasgow beer shops I visited. Wouldn't waste the ones I have left for a festival though.

I to this day don't know how anyone drinks this stuff??!!!!!

Tequila flavoured beer is just wrong

I love a Desperado, but unsure of drinking one warm. I tend to stick to vodka and coke. I make it as strong as I can (while still being able to enjoy it) so that I get maximum alcohol with minimum toilet breaks.

So Tuborg might not be great...however you have to remember what it replaced.

Before Tuborg it was Carlsberg (with the occasional bar selling Export). Before that, in the days of The Crown, it was Budweiser which we all know is not "The King of Beers", but "The Prince of Piss" (see the film 'Shopping' with a very young Jude Law and Sadie Frost).

Anyway, at The Forum in Kentish Town this week (along with Brixton Academy a few weeks back), Tuborg is very much the house lager...with the odd cheeky pump of San Miguel if you hunt it down...

Carlsberg Export was pretty widely available for a while from what I remember.  I think I vaguely remember @glasto-worker saying it was phased out because it didn't sell very well?  Although the chances are I made that up!

Perhaps people didn't like the 20/30/40p premium or simply didn't know...

San Miguel is another beer from the Carlsberg stable, so I'd imagine it will just be the company allowing mixing their beers across different bars.

A couple of things to note about small breweries - most of them will only produce the amount of beer they know they can sell, and their breweries are geared up to this level of production (staff, materials, equipment, casks/kegs).  Many of them will run at 100% capacity.  To expect one of them to run a fully stocked bar at Glastonbury would mean they would likely have to divert their entire operation (during one of their busies times - beer festival season) to the festival and all the logistics around doing this. The net result would probably mean a lot of effort for not much profit than they would ordinarily make supplying bars/bottle shops, who would now be miffed because the brewery they supported all year chose to to prioritize a festival over them.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is a stretch and I'd imagine would need to be done as a generic craft beer bar with multiple breweries involved.  At that point I could see Carlsberg kicking off and putting beer supply of the entire rest of the site at risk.

    • I'm sure you like silly music too but is it because it's not a Download traditional type act it gets looked down on? Rock am Ring booked them, and they sell every year so don't actually need to   Andy going and being replaced is the best thing that could have happened to Download, someone fresh to mix it up a bit rather than just a complete rotation. The only reason Andy booked ST in ti headline too was because he loves them and he was going on to manage them. Nah, Andy booked FOB in a year where over 20 acts were asked, I'll guarantee if they get Blink and having had Green Day they did not need 20 bands to come to those. FOB are also not one that have been booked in Europe to headline by anyone other than Reading as co-headliner as far as I can see. They weren't a ooh god yes they've booked FOB.
    • Would love to see them headline as well, but agree with Mr Bailey ☹️
    • I think it's just a slight shift in target audience of the festival, Andy also booked FOB    A lot of young people (me included) are nostalgic for the 2000's pop punk and nu metal rather than the 80's legacy bands    It's just the festival moving with the times I think Andy would of done the same    Although they are still booking some legacy acts like GNR but that doesn't seem to have gone well ticket sales wise
    • Trent said he’s working on new Nine Inch Nails musicnand that Coachella was the farewell show for Nine Inch Noize.   Would be over the moon to have any of the options at Prima 2027, though
