The cool kids were jostling for position pre-Radiohead.

Indeed.

Although looking back it’s by far my biggest Glastonbury regret not seeing Lorde and pegging it for Radiohead. The XX were great, but ho boy that Lorde set looked incredible

Lorde seems to be at Mad Cool so when she said she didn’t have a tour planned she was being such a damned liar.

Where you getting that from? I thought she liked she could fit on that poster at the bottom, but Dental (I think correctly) has Pixies down for that slot. Do you have some info?

Nah think he just completely jumped the gun when he saw a small gap in the Mad Cool poster. Don’t think Primavera and Mad Cool (ever?) share headliners so incredibly unlikely.

I think Arctic Monkeys in 2018 was the only time they’ve shared a big act but yeah, there’s very rarely much crossover between the lineups at all. I suppose it’s possibly more likely next year with Primavera booking so many headliners but Pixies do seem much more likely for that gap.

I looked at her charting numbers and I didn’t realise how little her numbers in the UK are. Didn’t know that Melodrama didn’t do very well here yet was 1 in the US and Aus / NZ.

Melodrama didn’t seem to chart well at time of release, but it did pick up steam over time. Green Light went platinum in the end. I guess since Royals she’s struggled to make a big splash, but picked up momentum over time?

I just think she’s not a main pop girl like Dua, Billie, Ariana, Taylor etc but instead one of those cult following pop artists like Frank Ocean etc. Not really arsed about their numbers and release when they want to.

I’ve been comparing her a lot to Frank Ocean at the moment but it does feel very similar.

Yeah that’s definitely the case.

Which is a bit odd when chart stats get thrown around more in this thread than most others 😂 She’s just doing her thing and I’m there for it. If it goes huge then great, if not, cool.

I mean, this has been discussed at length right here on eFestivals. I don't know how you missed it.

Social media needs regulating same as publishers, if they have algorithms that push whatever to people then they are effectively publishers anyway. The problem is just going to get worse and worse.

    • That’s actually one of the clearest rundowns I’ve seen, cheers. The transport setup sounds way smoother than most festivals, and the short queues alone make it sound worth it. The barn capacity thing is good to know though, missed sets like that can be frustrating if you’re not prepared.
