I think we’re all forgetting someone obvious for one of the headliner slots.

Friend of the festival, has played a few times before, younger than Paul McCartney, edgy enough for the Friday night headliner and probably just about to ready to make the step up to the Pyramid.

Is that Mumford and sons?

The other problem The Strokes have these days is that nobody cares about anything they've done since Room On Fire, think their sets these days are just everything off Is This It then a couple of singles from the other albums.

EDIT: Except for Juicebox of course, which is a stone cold banger.

Machu Picchu is also a stone cold banger which people should definitely care about.

Yeah I agree. This is the first I've heard about Mexican Ben having gone, you have to explain, I'm having a conniption over here.

I think you have to ask yourself if the Cure are headlining Wercheter (a festival as old and almost as big as Glastonbury), why would they then accept a sub at Glastonbury. It would make no sense.

Exactly, but I can't see Cure doing 2 nights in a row hence why I was asking if there was any precedence lol

Yep, sorry to say he left around Dec/Jan time...and everyone thought it was Johnny who had an offer from another ******* band!

The Cure headlined Reading and Leeds festivals one day after another in 2012 so I can't see Belgium-Somerset being a problem.

Also The Cure said they are headlining around 20 festivals in 2019, with that amount there are likely to be a couple of consecutive days.

Why not? No doubt in my mind if they do play they will headline.

Assumed that the wouldnt wanna finish in the morning in belguim, then fly to the UK with all their gear in time to play the next evening.

Just checked their last tour dates and they always left 2 days gap, but admittedly they will have less stuff than their own tour so maybe its possible? Still seems unlikely to me

NO! I can't believe it, I'm distraught. Do we know why he left? Has he been replaced? I feel sick.

Shallows just debuted at 13 on the charts, Gaga coming for that headline slot....

That song starts perfect for a Pyramid sub slot. If this is a sign of her new stuff I can see a rise again...there is some Adele-esque tune in there.

I think she's going to be a wildcard there how no one saw Katy Perry coming. Defo on Stormzy, Gaga and Liam as subs...with those headliners it's a huge top line.

With any luck Gaga's solo version of 'I'll Never Love Again' will become this decade's 'I Will Always Love You', and then provide the Glastonbury moment to end all moments.

Have  Metallica been discussed?

Big gap in their UK Euro tour at the end of June.

Lars is a massive Glasto convert.

Very much doubt it, just because the last time is so fresh in the mind y’know?

On another note...

Surely they must have at least one female headliner? Or at least a band that’s not all men?

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
