Well, Emily said they'll "likely" be back at Worthy Farm in 2019. So hopefully not a 3 year wait. I couldn't cope. That would be most of the Trump presidency!

Sure but what I mean is that if someone went in 2016 and doesn't go in 2017, then its 3 years for them.

Handing back tickets is crazy behaviour.

Not sure If I can be bothered after last years mud, may go to Worldwide festival instead and stay in a villa, drink nice wine and eat fantastic seafood on a plate.

last year sort of put me off,, I know it wasn't as bad as previous years where I still managed to rock and roll . I was younger then and had more energy. so I was thinking about not going

then my F.O.M.O Kicked in ... .... i can't miss it ... I am not dead yet

Taken the plunge this year, my son wore some last year and was striding through the mud like it wasn't there while I floundered like new born calf. Probably due as much to his age than anything else but at least at no point did he leave one behind.

Id take that over some of the welly losing mud in 04 and 05, or the splashy shit in 07.

What splashy shit in 07? 07 was as bad, if not worse, for sticky mud than 05.

Maybe my memory is skewed by the fact I spent it mostly sober so actually had to deal with the situation.

I was the only one in our team last year in walking boots, and despite being the eldest I was the only one not floundering and who didn't lose a boot all weekend.

I had boots for 2016 and it was the best decision i made as made the walking around so much easier than the slog in wellies. I had to make the plunge back to wellies for some of saturday morning though after the massive deluge overnight on Friday otherwise the mud was at the level where it would get into my boots. Once things had gotten a little bit better i changed back to my boots and found it easier. Was still a slog mind but i think I would have struggled a hell of a lot more in wellies. I am now a boots convert.

Yeah I was striding through aswell last year, could've had a top hat on, twirling a cane if I wanted. In comparison to 2014 when I was more like this lad.

This splashy shit. Fuck that. Picking bits of drying mud off your face and your food for 5 days in no fun.

I'm switching to boots this year after nearly breaking my ankle several times. I'll check out the boots thread, but are we just talking, normal Merrell style walking boots?! What about deep mud? Feet must get soaked.

Anyone think Doc Martins would do the trick?

I had mucking out boots rather that wellies after a recommendation on here. Comfy, easy to remove but the mud clung onto them with every step. I missed at least two acts because I just couldn't be bothered trawling through the swamp.

I've worn the same docs to every festival with a couple of pairs of decent socks and its fine. My dad wore really decent wellies and struggled at points. That said any time we got a chance to sit down he could easily take his off whereas I was basically stuck in mine for 16-20 hours at a time. I reckon we drew overall ahah

The weird thing was getting back and walking round in trainers on normal floor, I was getting everywhere 3 times as fast as usual, definitely leveled up my legs.

I like the idea of boots. I acknowledge that boots are better than wellies.

But I wouldn't wear them anywhere else and can't really justify the price/wardrobe space/breaking in time on a few potentially rainy days a year. I wouldn't even wear them when it was dry/dryish at the festival either.

This is my thinking too. To get the best of boots they'd need to be a decent pair which I can't really justify for just a few days. I'm either wellies or a pair of DC's which I've wore to every festival.

I'm the opposite.

I'm unfit and my legs by Sunday were shot this year. Sloppy doesn't affect walking at all. At JPT and want to trudge to the park through fields of puddles? No problem. Through that stuff? Fuck it, I'll catch x in a year or too.

Last year made me realsie how unfit I was, I have been upping my exercise since November with the aim of being able to cope with all climates and terrains come June.

I only ask this because perhaps life circumstances have changed for some people.....anyone realizing they cant go due to a job, lack of funds other commitments as we approach February?

A couple in our group have announced they are expecting their first sproglet in July, so they will not be paying off their balances this year.

Everyone else still going, and many more that missed out in the main sale trying again come April

I thought last years mud was the hardest to walk in, I was in boot/welly hybrids, but with no laces.  2007 the mud was easier to walk through, but the constant rain was soul destroying

It has rained in all of the 3 years I've been but the conditions last year were the worst I've experienced.

Trying to get to the SE corner on the Saturday night was ridiculous (people getting stuck in the mud and falling on top of each other). Probably a good idea that they shut the whole area so early in the end.

This hasn't put me off going at all but I'd reconsider if it was like that more often than not.

i wore boots and tbh there were a few hairy moments when I thought my boot was gonna get sucked off despite being fastened quite tightly (they never did come off mind) - silver hayes and greenpeace were bad and always seemed to fall over around arcadia (like ever night as body was charge but feet decided to stay put!!)

I am considering investing in boots for this year. Been on the fence for a while, considering I'll only use them at Glastonbury, and the cost.. especially as this year is going to be dry and sunny. But the endorsements on here are really tempting me to make the switch. I guess if you see them as an investment for future festivals the cost isn't all that bad.

You could get a great pair of boots for 30 quid on sale. Thats what mine cost and they're worth 10 times that over the last 2 festivals.

Its not just the comfort in the feet, its the support for your back (much less Glasto back), and legs. Wellies are dreadful for that.

I paid about 70/80 quid for my boots last year and they did me fine, wouldn't even consider wellies. I bought a pair of gaiters for contingency and barely took them out my rucksack.

I get the wear out of them by using them for walking the dog if it's been heavily raining. Keeps my feet used to them without risking wearing them out.

I must admit the numb big toe that I got from wearing wellies at this years festival which only deserted me in October makes me think I'll be getting some boots this time around.

Literally couldn't feel that big bastarding toe for months.

Can be all fixed for 30 odd quid!

Or less if you're lucky.
