So, completely different to how it looked two days ago? Brilliant.

Yep, we've gone from wall to wall 28 degree sunshine, to 17 degree cloud and sporadic rain, all in the space of 48 hours. My reasoned side is shouting 'just wait for countryfile' with increasing volume.

Here's what the websites are saying compared to previous years:

mean 14.jpg

max 14.jpg

The forecasts for 2014 (which ended up relatively wet) and 2013 & 2015 (which ended up relatively dry) didn't diverge until just less than a week before the festival.

So let's see where we are in the next day or two. At the moment it doesn't look brilliant but neither did 2015 at this stage and it ended up fine.

Pedmills! Just when I thought I might be able to stay off this thread, you come riding in with all your charts. Goddamit!

Am I reading this right... the forecasts are currently suggesting roughly the same amount of rain that they were forecasting at this point last year?

if so great, and thanks for the graphs, we've missed them!

Can someone remind me how bad 2014 was? I seem to remember it being a pretty decent one.

huge storm on the Friday, including many of the stages having to be shut down because lightning struck the site - loads of acts had their sets cut short and it messed up the times a little. few showers here and there as well as that but i don't remember it being particularly bad other than that

Yes, wasn't actually there but was watching avidly on tv, didn't rudimental lose power during their show due to lighting?

Apart from the mud Friday night and Saturday. Sunday it dried up a little but trying to get up the hill to the Park late Friday night was comical. Probably looked like a terrible Takeshis Castle contestant the way I was struggling.

The land coped splendidly with seemingly quite a lot of rain. I noticed significantly more ditches and drainage rocks than in 2010, the last time I was there. Some of the markets near Other/JP/Silver Hayes didn't hold up too well, but so long as the rainfall comes in bursts we should be fine.  2014 had a big motherfucking thunderstorm, so a lot of rain fell, but it wasn't raining for all that long

It's the horrendous constant soaking (2007,1998) that I fear.

Yep, that freshened my memory, cheers! I was watching Chvrches at JP during the Friday storm and there was a waterfall forming on the edge of the tent, pretty exciting/terrifying to see.

I've only been going since 2010 and the only year where the weather has really gotten me down is 2011. Coming out of the Dance Village on the Wednesday evening through the shin high mud was absolutely miserable and I could tell one of my Glastonbury-virgin friends was already regretting parting with £200. Definitely the low point of my festival-going career.  As long as we can avoid a repeat of that, I'll be very happy!

I got a bit miserable on that 2014 Saturday afternoon. Went to see the Daptone Super Soul Revue and the rain definitely dampened the atmosphere.

EDIT was much happier by the time Metallica came on though :)

I was there too.  Was something special, the rain actually made it better.

We were hunkered down on  our stools enclosed by our ponchos,  peaking out from under our hoods  at him in his cowboy boots and stetson.

At the same time we could see younger and more dynamic folk having a shimmy in their t shirts and shorts ^_^

Daptone was great in spite of the rain! Sharon Jones was incredible (I think the rain may have cleared off by the time she came on)!

Yes they still did amazingly well, and Sharon was brilliant. (I only meant to suggest that the audience got damp, not that the band were in any way soggy. They were on fire the whole time!)

Never in doubt @billum. I never quite appreciated how much we were getting our fill with Daptone in 2014, they could've provided the west holts with a separate act for the next few years. I was really hoping Charles Bradley would be back this year as well, given his added exposure in the last 6-12 months.

Not sure about young and dynamic, but I was certainly shimmying in my shorts, wringing out my hat became one of my signature dance moves.

Shorts are the best in warm rain. Doesn't matter how wet you get.

Yes by far - really regret the time I wore jeans on one of the wet afternoons, took hours and hours to dry out and couldn't get the bastards off!

As a general rule: if you have to be reminded then it can't have been that bad :-) 2007 (and the storm of 2005) will never be forgotten.

I do laugh at how people look back and remember the weather...  I've been going for some time now, and to be honest if your having a good time, you wont remember the "wet years".  Although 98 nearly killed me lol

I really cant remember the rain in 2014 or last year to be honest, must of been because I was warm and dry :)

Take good poncho, gaiters and decent boots, and just forget about it , as run headon into the party crowd :)
