No Longer Going

I've not been very active around these parts since this year's Glasto - the trip over from Australia left me needing a bit of recovery time over the summer, and I found a new relationship in August that's kept me busy since. I waxed lyrical about Glastonbury and got my new girlfriend (who'd never heard of it) on board. We both secured tickets in October but since then we've been reassessing our finances and have come to the conclusion that we'll visit England next Christmas, meaning that I have now sold our two tickets back to the festival. :(

For her it's just a festival she knows nothing much about, but we know what it means here, so you lot will understand my disappointment. I've had two great years in 2014 and 2015, and it's definitely something we plan to do either in 2017 or beyond, but no longer next year. I'll probably keep a low profile going forward as reading about how great it'll be will get me down.

I hope my two tickets being sold back will give two people here a better chance of a great time next June.

Shame Kali, sorry to hear this

Im sure many people will agree after your heroics this year, it'll be a terrible shame to the farm not to have your presence

All the best in your new relationship, really hope that works out for you, and don't keep too low a profile, you'll be back before you know it

I had tickets for 2015 and had to cancel plans. Its gutting and I ended up going out of the country for that week! Being in Aus will be the best place if you cant go, being close to it will only drive you insane!

Agree with all the sentiments, hope you have a lovely time doing something else instead.

And good luck for 2017, I'm sure if you need a hand getting tickets, there'll be loads of people on here willing to help.

Best of wishes for your new relationship kalifire. I went to a disco last Saturday that had been resurrected at a venue in Birmingham after years of not being held at the same venue (It couldn't compete when the pubs started opening later in to the wee hours). I used to spend lots of my weekends at that disco, many years ago. Anyway, I got to go again last Saturday. And you'll get to Glastonbury again. Of that I have no doubt. Good luck.

sorry to hear you aint going Kali, and I am glad you have found a lovely partner to compensate!

Big up for helping that guy last year move his campsite - can't remember his name but I remember reading the thread and thinking you were a ledge.

Here's hoping you can make it to G17!

We all have our priorities, but I hope you have a great 2016 and you both agree on what's happening in 2017, and are happy about it. Glastonbury is great, but relationships are important too.

    • I did get a little amusement at the idea that Infantino was upset Trump stood him up for the US opener last night given how hard he's been trying to get in his good books.   Tbf, I thought the Canadian roar at their equaliser was decent volume. Or maybe I just had my phone at a higher volume for it when I watched the highlights this morning.
    • Wonder if they’d ever headline Glasto again.  Would be very different a 2nd time around I reckon.
    • My mate is there now. She enjoyed them a lot but had never seen them before. Apparently there was an injury in the crowd near the end so took about 10 or so minutes to sort out. Hope the person is alright.    Feeder apparently drew a ridiculously huge crowd on the third stage.
    • This was never a surprise.   I'm hoping USA meet and lose to Iran in round of 16, just to really wind up Trump.
    • Watched this this morning -  absolute brilliance -  live show is peaking
