Rock Werchter 2016

Not sure about that. It's a holiday week, and RW is usually reluctant to announce during those.

Regarding Foo Fighters: apparently Grohl has again said that the current dates are the last of the Sonic Highways tour. On the other hand, the countdown on their site is almost certainly pointing to a new album. Not sure what to make of it anymore.

Neil also seems to think they're out of Glasto, so I don't think there are going to be any Summer dates in Europe.

I'm a bit unsure if RHCP would be a void headliner or not. I saw them at V a few years ago and they were awful, by all accounts I heard terrible things about there reading fest show.

Saying that though I missed there werchter headline show, friends said it was a fantastic set.

So I wouldn't mind checking them out if they headlined again.

I saw them at V 2003 and thought they were very good, is that the same year you're speaking about? But then again I might have thought that as they were my favourite band at the time, at my first ever festival and I was only 10.

I saw them 3 times after this, all were terrible - Earls Court 06, Reading 07 and Live Earth (only the 4 songs though) saying this I would probably check them out again in hope that they would come good some how because it's seems such a shame a band with a few decent albums can be so off the mark live and the fact the girlfriend would want to see them to tick them off the list.

P.S Very jealous of the Editors Brussels gig you went too, couldn't believe it when I saw Bullets on the setlist. I went to colston hall and had my fingers crossed for it, maybe Werchter 16?

Neil also seems to think they're out of Glasto, so I don't think there are going to be any Summer dates in Europe.

This is a disaster, can you link me to the page as I have to see this with my own eyes so I can go into a corner and cry...

Will try and find it now, but he removed them from the Friday rumours on the Glasto page, and replaced them with Muse. He said that he's had info that they're out of the Glasto picture, but also previously had info they were in (think he said the strongest info was that they were out). Thinks Glasto want Muse, Adele and Coldplay, and that Muse are a replacement for Foos, who were originally in the frame.

Also Editors played Bullets in Newcastle the other week :P

Here we go. This quote was in response to someone asking if Foos were no longer in.

There's been good reasons come our way to suggest Foos were out for many months, tho there was also a well-sourced snippet which suggested they were in .... currently it's looking like things might have changed around this at about the time of their MK shows in September.

And this was a response to me pondering that Muse, Adele and Coldplay were the three acts Emily Eavis had said were already booked at the end of the last festival.

I can't be sure but my take is that Muse are not necessarily one of those acts, and have been slotted into a headline slot in place of the Foos sometime in the last two months.

Hi all

Can someone in the know write a list of all the bands we think are likely , unlikely, Sr ad out.

Seeing as you all spent all that time writing reviews of each bands performance I'm sure you can do this!

Very likely : Editors

Likely : The National, Foals, Wilco, Two Door Cinema Club, The 1975, Netsky, The Hives

Possible, but need more information : Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biffy Clyro, The Cure, Tame Impala, Bloc Party, Pearl Jam, Major Lazer, Beck, Lana Del Rey, Jamie XX, Dropkick Murphys, The War On Drugs, Rudimental, Gorillaz, Sigma, Bear's Den, Chase & Status, Courtney Barnett, Beck, Beach House, CHVRCHES, John Coffey, Nothing But Thieves, Disclosure, Snow Patrol, The Last Shadow Puppets, The Offspring and many more...

Unlikely : Coldplay (They are supposed to play only in stadiums...), Blur (Gorillaz is more likely), Foo Fighters, The Stone Roses

Ruled out : Green Day (not touring), Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Volbeat

(My hopes, without impossibility : Pearl Jam, Frank Turner, Gogol Bordello, Glen Hansard)

Such a great song, why didn't they play it in Bristol! We did get Fingers in the Factories and acoustic All Sparks though.

This is terrible news for me. They were the band I was really hoping/praying for to make my Werchter. The band I'd most like to see there now would be Green Day but not really sure how likely that is as they have announced no tour or album yet...

It would probably be easier for you to suggest a list of bands you'd like to see there and then we can tell you how likely or not they are rather than listed a load of bands you could potentially not care about.

Yeah Bullets is one of my favourites. Was gutted when I saw they didn't play it at the beginning of the tour. Fingers in the Factories is a fair trade off, though. I don't like All Sparks, wish we got FITF instead of it.

Thanks! I would gladly watch Editors, The National, Foals, TDCC and Netsky (the likely ones).

For the possible I would trade Jamie XX with The XX (new album and probable tour next year).

I don't think there's going to be any early summer dates.

There might be some later summer ones, tho of that I don't have a clue either way.

I know it's a pipe dream but I'm really holding out for Oscar and the Wolf to close Main Stage one of the nights, perhaps after Florence?

I saw Oscar And The Wolf tonight in Madrid in a 150 people venue and it was an amazing show. This guys will be huge if their next album is so amazing like "Entity"

I think booking anyone 3 times in a row is weird,  even by Rock Werchter standards and besides,   these guys need to rest sometimes..

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
