I was wondering what people's thoughts of him where, my friend went on his own Gillespie'd and he said it was the act of the weekend but in the state he was in I wasn't willing to trust him. He said the crowd was tiny and he judged that by "being able to leave the crowd half way through to get some water and then get back in 6 rows from the front with no hassle"

lol it was big but loose - dancing space rather than stuck tight if you get me, certainly no jon hopkins from last year!

Setlist was way better than expected so it sizzled compared to Kanye's which I'm finally trying to watch through now... little delay after sulking out the end of that last song while they try and raise the rig... one minute... is that devil gate drive?

Deadmau5 basically did what I would do if I was given a headline Other stage slot and a bunch of cash. Put a song on and hang out with a couple of mates, buy some stupid costumes.

He's definitely an adequately sized booking but when I've seen him live I haven't been impressed. That video does nothing to persuade me otherwise.

Would anyone else be surprised to know that in all time worldwide sales, Kanye is the fourth highest selling act to ever play Glastonbury? After the Stones, U2 and Neil Diamond (or 5th if you account for McCartney's share of The Beatles and his solo/Wings stuff). I was stunned.

Kanye is one of the best selling artists because he's worked on, and produced some high selling material that isnt immediately obviously done by him.

Still doesnt discredit it, but i'm sure that kanye produced /written hits are included in that.

I didn't see his set at Glastonbury as I was at West Holts having a great time with The Mothership but I have watched Kanye's set twice now on iPlayer and really enjoyed it both times.

Nah that's not counted otherwise you'd have your George and Max Martin up there as well.

no

I seem to remember that being a point regularly thrown at the "he doesn't deserve to headline" brigade. Might be wrong tho, only just woke up :(

the simple fact is there are more knobheads than non-knobheads in the world, so it stands to reason that shit music is going to sell more, as knobheads love shit music. That's part of what makes them knobheads.

the beatles being the exception that proves the rule.

Hang on.

I've encountered many knobheads at gigs.

They've paid to watch the same band as me.

They must like the same music as me.

Shit

    • Oh yeah I'd forgotten about their mad scramble to get back from LA to Glastonbury. Though at least there you can blame multiple flight cancellations. I do agree though that it's fair to ask why you'd risk a similar sh*t show.
    • So who's got a good rain dance in the locker, then? Now we're in August the weather watchers can come out of hiding.    Already having flashbacks to last year (the dust cloud of doom at the crossroads by the Courtyard entrance).   Also got to be looking sketchy for the fire/fireworks on the Sunday. Might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind it - the fencing annoyance isn't worth the 10 mins of 'oooohhh, aaahhhh', plus the raining of hot embers last year!
