I'm seeing them at Wembley Stadium too, the Saturday before. (Also got Royal Blood on the bill there too). Will still be there on the Friday night at Glasto - should be a great night!

Seen them at the MK bowl the other year and they were immense that night, can't see that being topped for me personally and I would rather like to see The Super Furries, anyone who just likes them or even just thinks they are ok go and see them as they do out on a great show

Was also at this. Agree i doubt it can be topped, but because my girlfried or any of our mates haven't seen them ill probably see them at glasto. Definitely a safe headliner!

Seen them from the front at MK, way back at Wembley in <08/09?> and at Reading 2012, and seeing them thrice prior to Glasto.. If you've not seen them before, I'd recommend it.

If they have special guests it'll be for an encore a la John Paul Jones/Jimmy Page or Roger Taylor/Brian May...

Although Lemmy could show up for an outing of White Limo..

Dusts off efests joke #237

Did someone say they can't do anything special but they're going to do it anyway?

Yeh i'm hoping for a big hitters set with a few classics and special guests thrown in. I'd never pay to go to a Foos gig so looking forward to watching them on Friday night. Thats why i love Glasto. Gives me an opportunity to see artists i'd never normally see and out of the 3 Pyramid headliners there the only ones i'd watch.

How long do the Friday headliners typically get for their set?

Surely they've have time to slot in some of their older, less heard stuff

they'll probably get about 2 hours, which is fairly shorter than their usual sets so i wouldn't think we'd get anything extra/special. the only song i can see them slipping in is, for obvious reasons, For All The Cows, but i do hope Dave treats it as a special gig and pulls out another Reading '12-esque setlist. that would be incredible

Not seen them live before, but been invited to the Wembley gig the Saturday prior so I think I'll probs watch the first 20 mins of their Glasto set and then possibly head over to Hot Chip on West Holts.

I'm seeing the Foos the week before at Wembley and I would normally sack that off and see them at Glasto, but I am going with close mates so I will be still there...... as a result I may be off somewhere else on Friday evening, most likely Hot Chip.

I really struggle with SFA. The few songs I have heard don't really do anything for me. Sorry all the SFA lovers!

When they headlined Reading in 2012 they asked to have the whole main stage schedule for Sunday adjusted so they could take to the stage earlier and play a longer set. They had enough time scheduled in for a 3 hour set but played around 2 and a half in the end. We will definitely get 2 hours at the very least, it will be interesting to see when the set times get announced.

Sadly I think the chance of older, rarer stuff is slim. I reckon it will be greatest hits, few from Sonic Highways and Wasting Light and a few covers (hopefully with special guests).

Christ, it's probably easier to out yourself as a tory than a non-sfa devout on here.

Seen FF before, I know a hell of a lot of their songs even though I doubt I've ever listened to one of their albums all the way through. Everlong is a tune. Not enough to have me over the pyramid on the Friday however.

So glad they seem to be playing the proper version of Everlong and not the naff slowed down interpretation. I never understood why they decided to play that song at half tempo. The speed and energy of that song, particularly the chorus, is what makes it such an awesome tune.

I'd be pleased if they played Detroit Rock City since I'm a KISS fan but apart from that, the older the better for me! Not a big fan of their album at all but I'll brace myself for 3/4 tracks.

When I saw them, Grohl came on and did the first verse of Everlong by himself, then the band joined him half way through.

I don't think I know much else. My Hero, This is a Call, Monkey Wrench.... they played Keep the Cars Running when I saw them.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sat in my kitchen in Old Trafford - 1 mile away from the gig and I can hear it really well (the alleyways round here transfer the sound pretty well apparently).

Now listening to the support: God Damn (??), Teenage Fanclub on next and Foos on at 8:30.

Time for a glass of wine,
