Imagine how many more songs they could do if they didn't feel the need to slow half the songs down and have a big bit in the middle where Dave just talks.

or play a load of cover songs. could play so many more album tracks (or even singles that they no longer play). i don't see the point in requesting a two and a half hour set if you're gonna fill at least half an hour of that with stuff nobody wants

Yeah, that too. I don't see the need for a band with as many albums as they have to play one cover song, let alone three.

Edit: Just noticed that they played Aurora a few nights ago, something like that, White Limo and Stacked Actors instead of the 3 cover songs would improve the setlist so much.

Also that Rock am Ring setlist is shite.

i know i'll be loving it when i'm there but on paper all of their setlists look terrible these days - so by the numbers. i know wishing for I'll Stick Around is a lost cause these days but i hope we at least get This Is A Call / ANYTHING from the first three albums that isn't Big Me / Everlong / My Hero / Monkey Wrench / Learn To Fly

They were playing I'll Stick Around a fair bit late last year/early this I think?

I just want Weenie Beenie.

yeah they were but it seemed to be one of the songs that was written on the setlist but often got the cut, and now it doesn't seem to be getting played at all. any album tracks from those three album would make the setlist 10x better. i see they played Breakout at Rock am Ring which is alright i suppose, but almost anything else would be a better choice imo

i wish they'd stop doing acoustic versions of their songs - the fact that My Hero has been reduced to an acoustic version on this tour is saddening :(

I tell you what is saddening Bon Jovi reduced Livin on a prayer to acoustic, there was just no need!!!

Edit: actually what was even worse when they did cover of bloody Status Quo rocking all round over world that was truly shocking, least Foos pick decent covers!!

TBH the set list was similar to Manchester, I hate the covers and wish they played rare stuff instead...but you know what I loved it when we saw them in Manchester and really looking forward to seeing them again at Glastonbury :)

Isn't that half the point of a Foo Fighers gig? Dave being all nice and having a friendly chat with the audience :P

aye it's a piano ballad these days

For christs sake, they spent years playing some shi*ty slowed down version of Everlong pretty much taking out evertything that makes that song so great and now they do the same with Big Me. No one in the history of man kind ever enjoyed a slowed down version of a classic.

Im sure it will be a good show but i just dont hold the same fondness i had for the Foo's up until and including 'There is nothing left to lose'... personally for me it all just got a bit 'meh' after that.

I'll catch the start of their set but i will definitely be rushing up to the park for SFA when the time comes.

They had an incredible setlist at Islington Assembly hall when they played as the holy shits... Sadly Dave seems to think early stuff is for small venues and their later stuff for big gigs.

yep those setlists were incredible - didn't they OPEN with Aurora at one of them!? what i'd give to see that song played live.

i've grown quite fond of Wasting Light as of late so i'm glad that a few songs from that are getting aired, but there are other songs in the current setlist like Long Road To Ruin, Cold Day In The Sun and Learn To Fly that i wouldn't mind seeing binned, as well as any acoustic/slowed down versions of songs. either play em properly or don't play em at all - the half acoustic/half full band Times Like These should've died long ago

I would do anything to hear Aurora live again, Good Grief, Generator, M.I.A. and Headwires too although i dont think they played 'Good Grief' too often anyway. its such a shame they seem to have consigned a lot of those great earlier album tracks to the history books or at the very least to one off intimate shows. It seems there is way too much emphasis on being a 'Stadium rock' band these days. Fair play as it has won them millions of fans and plaudits the world over, but from a purely selfish point of view... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease just play more of the first three albums!

I don't think even Grohl could manage 2 1/2 hours of constant shouting, he needs to rest at some point...

Foo Fighters have released plenty of acoustic / slow songs that have always been acoustic and slow - i don't see why they need to change other songs to this style. i'd happily see February Stars, Walking After You, Next Year, Aurora, anything from the second disc of In Your Honour played live (or, hell, just the regular version of Big Me!), but alas it'll never happen

still holding out hope for For All The Cows

Leaving that off of the setlist at Glastonbury of all places would be criminal!

my thinking exactly. if The Rolling Stones can re-write one of their songs with Glastonbury-themed lyrics, then Foo Fighters should definitely play an already cow-related song

Agree but there's the case of so many hits, so little time and festivals are always the ones where it best to hit em with everything they should know while you're looking to reel in some new fans.

James do a similar thing at normal gigs, the one sang of theirs that absolutely everyone knows Sit Down gets either remixed, done acoustically or even dropped completely, James also for some reason insist on playing odd b sides to a festival crowd who start to lose concentration with the set because of it so I think it all depends on who you are playing to as to what to give the crowd, those in the smaller venues by default are almost certainly going to be your most hardened fans who know the most material.
