Silage cutting next to the Park, before the fence is complete I take it there's security otherwise you could wander about the site whilst they build the stages.

I went two weeks ago and stuck to the public footpaths but there was nothing stopping me from straying, especially once you're on the other side of the farm in dairy grounds etc. It gets a bit more serious once the fence is up and it's like walking outside a prison (I will still go back a few times for fun though)

tent appearing in entrance to croissant neuf .... is it welfare or such like ? I know they give out suncream there and have that amazing glastonbury trainline map outside

Yes, that’s the welfare tent. Had some great fireside chats there

Fun fence fact:  there's gaps in it right up to festival week for wildlife to leave.  The festival brings in experts to encourage their departure and they do a sweep of the site to make sure!

This is an excellent fact!

Edit; this has just reminded me - my brother is convinced he saw a massive hare run out of a bush past him in 2022 🤣

We saw a large hare running between campervans in the east fields whilst queueing for PG C at 6am in 2023

I love a cheeky little fact

Didn't they find some owl chicks nesting under the Pyramid stage one year?  Or have I imagined that 😂

That is a fun fact. As others have mentioned we saw a hare running through the camp Wednesday morning both in 2022 and 2024 and it was a sad reminder that the event must be utterly terrifying for the wildlife! Glad they do have experts in to address that.

About 10-15 years ago (I can't remember which year exactly), my GF and I watched a group of badgers running around in the area that is now The Wood - back when it was all fenced off apart from a path through the middle.

I've never seen live badgers in broad daylight before or since. They seemed quite happy but all the activity of the festival must have been a bit disorienting for them at the very least.

There’s a badger that lives down the road from us and makes his way down the streets at nights. They’re a lot bigger (and sturdier) in real life!

I saw a bbc wildlife program and it showed that a set of badgers were living in the bushes at the bottom of muddy lane, near staff catering. They were out at night during the festival.

When I was at Big Chill festival in 2009 we were sat around camp one morning and about 20 ducks got out out of the river that was next to it and started waddling through the campsite scavenging for any bits of food they could find!

And that is how The Duck Truck which can be found at west holts was founded.

When I was working for oxfam and there on the Tuesday I saw a pheasant and young chicks in the hedgerows around the SE corner somewhere .. I hope they found a quiet spot to hide for a few days.

I’ve also seen a huge stag just outside of the fence from our South Park campsite one year very early morning, looking over the site and probably wondering what the heck was going on.

One year there was a baby bird of some sort sat on the speaker stacks at the pyramid, I think it was during Wolf Alice’s set.. it was tweeting away trying to find its parents.

I’m glad they try and encourage the wildlife out of the site as munch as possible.. but must be hard to get it all cleared.

I'd like to visit sometime just to see it getting built (rather than it being bare), I guess that's why I like the webcam so much as it increases your anticipation, even for telly watchers.

That was a good year there. I Used to do the medical cover at the festival. Beautiful setting

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
