silage is eaten by cows not spread

the Farm tend to pump cow muck from Steanbow and spray it or use a splash plate.  A chain flail spreader tends to be used for manure (lumpy shite and bedding etc) that can't be pumped.  They tend to dump that in the G car park and move the pile around a bit at intervals.

It looks like an irrigation system to spread slurry or more likely some dirty water - the water  is pumped through a pipeline from some distance away. If they have underground slurry pits they may have been flooded and they're just taking the top off.

It's definitely not fertiliser or herbicide- these need to be applied with a much greater degree of accuracy from a specialist sprayer or spreader.
