Would you rather not know, enjoy the mystery and turn up and see it's Kaiser Chiefs again?

I know they're past it and on the comeback trail but they're belting live at the moment.

i'd rather find out seconds before leaving for Glastonbury after three weeks more of rampant ridiculous speculation :P

Mardy will be pleased

hehehe, I';m not in the least bit surprised. Friday Other Guests appears to mean 'dreadful pile of old pony'. The value of 'apecial guests' has obviously plummeted.

its definitely a strange one, Kaiser Chiefs while disliked on here are a big band - did an arena tour earlier this year, Beady Eye has the Liam Gallagher factor so I guess you have the "name" thing there. Charlatans play small venues even here in Manchester (not sold out at Castlefield even with SFA supporting). they will get a huge crowd who dont read this who will be majorly disappointed. It seems almost pointless this year, they might as well announce them.

Seems to be a general dislike for The Charlatans on here.

I can understand that among those who weren't around in their peak years but I loved them back in the day and I'll probably make the effort to head over to see them.

One to Another remains one of the all-time favourite tunes from my youth, and Tellin' Stories is a cracking album

They are a fantastic band with a huge selection of hits. They piss all over bands like the Cribs and if they play the hits, it will be a fantastic start to the festival.

I agree, one of the most over-looked bands of the 90's

And let's not forget, Tim Burgess is one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet

yeah this is how i feel about it really - there's no 'wow' factor to them like there were the previous two years (even if it was a shit wow factor). will be a lot of puzzled people in that crowd

Yeah it doesn't make all that much sense really. They are the smallest band on that day's lineup so why they can't just bill them for people to think "Charlatans will be a decent start to the day" rather than disappointing people still hoping for mega acts to kick things off, I do not know.

Although you're probably right in the real world, with Glastonbury's punters average age, they're not smaller than Everything everything, Jungle and probably Catfish really.

I dunno because the Latitude crowd won't be far from Glastonbury's demographic will it? And they're playing the second stage at Latitude lower down the bill than the likes of Django Django, La Roux and Catfish.

Someone recently got in touch, claiming to have info that "AC/DC will be there this year in some capacity".

That info may or may not be true, but I think it's unlikely those old men are going to be rushing from their gig in Berlin to play a morning slot at Pilton. :P

(it's perhaps the case they're coming to have a look around, but it's more likely bull).

Interesting if it's true though, the rumours of Mensch being there in 2014 and them having a 'look around' this year doesn't hurt the rumours that they will play one day.

I like The Charlatans and the new album is actually pretty good too. It's odd to have them as special guests that early on when really they'd fit quite nicely (along with The Cribs) up between Jungle and The Vaccines.

As much as I am(/was) a fan of The Cribs I don't see them going down too well in that slot. A large, sober, outdoor crowd isn't really their thing. They're the kind of band that make up for their shortcomings (singing n stuff) with manic sweaty energy in small rooms.

Maybe The Charlatans:

1) Like a wind up

2) Don't know the difference between 1990 and 2015?

Nobody else I want to see at the time, so I will look who is setting up as I get a growler Friday morning I think.

The Charlatans are a great start imo. The new album is utterly fantastic if anyone was considering giving it a go. 'So Oh' and 'Let The Good Times..." are utterly fantastic. 'So Oh' especially is my summer song, so opening the weekend on that will be just perfect.

Cribs played a similar slot in 2007 and it went down really well. The set that got me into the band.

They played before Modest Mouse and.... The Automatic!

Who remembers The Automatic!?

    • Seems the addition of the Sun Stage area is interesting. Suspect this is the area where the Stage 4 used to be pre-2024. Looks as though they want to try create some space to keep people in amongst the arena post-headliners, rather than just crowds all descending back on the campsite entertainment at once.
    • 2000 Trees - 3 Day Tickets on Concert for Carers to buy (pair £15) sure they will not have them for long, I cant check if they are still available as it now says I have already bought tickets.
    • times and technology has changed , a pyramid headliner is often about the show thats put on as much as the music like it or not and as much as many would like to you cant really blame an artist for trying to get the best out of the set both for the audience in the field and for the cameras also .... Beyonce was 15 years ago
