I've been listening to The Magic Whip every day on the way to work and i absolutely love it but i'm far too scared to add it to the Glastonbury playlist incase theres a day that I have to take it off :(

Well, Dave has given an interview to a fansite following the release of Magic Whip and said they aren't headlining.....

'The final headliner for Glastonbury now won’t be announced until June. Can you shed any light on whether it will be Blur or not? It’s not us. They book the headliners before Christmas, and we didn’t announce our album until February.'

That's not true though, they booked last month. I smell a smokescreen.

so, on a further few listens, this sounds more and more like a direct descendant/follow up to Blur 'Blur'. A similar mix of shouty and melancholia. 'Go out' is the new Song 2 and Terracotta Heart is Death of Party. In summary, it's way better than anybody had any reason to hope for, I think. I'm enjoying it a lot.

He seems a pretty straight shooter. Would have expected some kind of evasive comment to get out of this q if they were playing.

Best of luck mate. You won't regret it.

no luck on the Brooklyn gig on Friday. it was a minute in and it said it was sold out. though i'm reading on forums that some suddently got through 15 mins later with some extras. thinking of wandering by the site if i can sneak off - 5pm doors, tickets not being emailed out until 3pm, 545pm opener on - and try my luck.

it's not like there's a Hyde Park gig to sneak off to for locals here, so as you can imagine, demand quite high for a 600-person venue. They easily could/should do a Madison Square Garden gig. surely they will...

Coachella 2013

yep, forgot about that. but first gig in NYC since 2000 with full original band

and while I'm at it...to those suggesting they drop "Tracy Jacks" from the 09 Glasto set. how could you??

I'm going to New York in September and have always wanted to see a gig at Maddision Square Garden. A Blur show would be beyond perfect.

I just want to say that at the moment I think Ong Ong might be the best thing they've ever done. Really loving it.

I've listened to it to & from work every day this week and so far every day I've had a different favourite.

Go Out, My Terracotta Heart & There Are Too Many of Us have all held the title, the current champ is Pyongyang.

alright you can have that back, im trying to be ruthless!

If they're shaking up the setlist a bit they could maybe leave out the Australian dog food tune, the British Gas theme, the "score in a shitty American sport" tune, the Levis tune, the Sony Ericsson song, the Gateway tune, the Renault song, the Slovakian phone company jingle, the Chrysler tune, the Miller song and the Chanel, Intel, Miller, Coke and Nike songs too.

Still leaves them room to play the T-Mobile tune, the Fanta song, the FIFA 98 tune, the Nissan song, the Microsoft song and 4-5 off the new album!

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
