Nal clearly bunking off school the day the Maths teacher said "Today were going to learn about Probability"

He uses negativity towards the weather as some sort of reverse psychology.

It's quite impresssive as I can't remember a year he wasn't like this.

I imagine in 2010 he was wondering around the festival in full wet weather gear just as a sacrifice.

He's from Dublin. The only time he ever sees the sun is for 1 weekend every June.

What's everyone's perfect festival conditions?

Id have to go with: in the mid 20s and mostly cloudy with outbreaks of sun for a couple of hours in the arvo, maybe a light sprinkling in the early hours of a morning or two.

Is this too much to ask!!

Sun, Sun, Sun, cooler in the mornings until about 10 then slap on the cream and away we go.

low 20s, mostly cloudy but with outbreaks of sun, no wind, no rain.

if it's too sunny/hot, morning sleep is impossible due to heat, the nighttime is clear so very cold, and you're walking around for 5 days covered in a layer of suncream and dust, drinking water to keep hydrated.

and obviously, wind is shit for outdoor stages, and rain is just shit in general.

a nice still, warm, dry, cloudy day for me, thanks.

What is the story with that canoe? I've always wondered as the only logical reason for it is that it was brought in after the flooding. But to do that, in those conditions would take some effort. Is it a publicity shot set up by a paper!? I'd love to know!

Often wondered this, I reckon it's came from somewhere on the SE side of the fest, they've got all sorts of random stuff up there!

Nice weather is of no use to us at the minute.

I know that it doesn't work in terms of probabilities, but nevertheless getting the rain out of the way just now is far preferable to the dreaded possibility of peaking too soon, when you end up looking at what you could have won from the perspective of a Worthy Farm that looks like the Somme.

Its basically rained for the entire month of May, how much more do you want!!

How accurate were the rainfall predictions last year? Did we know we were likely to get 40+ mm of rain on the Tuesday before the festival?

On the tuesday the average of all the websites was 19.5mm, and one website (Weather Outlook) was predicting 42.6mm, so we did know it was going to be rainy.

In contrast the average on the tuesday before in 2013 was something like 3mm, which was pretty close to the actual figure. So we knew that year that it would be mainly dry.

Cheers - from the sounds of that we should have a reasonable idea of what is in store for us before we set off.

    • I think a Take to the Skies set would probably be the thing that gets me to go to this. Couldn't give a f**k whatelse is on there if that happens.   Feel like Knocked Loose might be too big by that point.
