Spent a great Thursday afternoon in the spaceport in 2016 (day and year could be wrong as I was enjoying myself a bit too much for the afternoon). Dave beer played a great set then joined us in the crowd after. Looking forward to getting back

I see Chase and Status have at last given a release  date for their album , back 2 Jungle, listening  to the first few tracks off it , and I love it.

I know they have said they aren't playing , but I am hoping for a secret set from them

and the Gas tower line up really has my juices flowing , that and Elvana

This is 100% my favourite thread on this forum. I'm deadly serious. Positive, no sniping, full of enthusiasm, tips and good vibes. I don't understand much of it, but I bloody love reading it.

I keep meaning to post something like this but keep forgetting.I dont contribute at all but I love ready the positivity, enthusiasm and knowledge which you dont get anywhere else on this forum really, well not all the time.

I dont know most of the music mentioned but it's good to read, although this place did put me onto Amelie Lens. My DJ tastes are more way inclined to the kind of more guitar/dance/electro cross over stuff. Such as Jamie Xx, Erol, 2 Many DJ's,  Four Tet, Boys Noize etc.

I think this is due to be having a poor attention span and having to have words for me to know what a song is. But this year ill try my best to stick out some proper DJ sets.

I'll try and catch Daniel Avery and Peggy Gou this year, although I think Peggy Gou will be playing one of the boat parties. But I am also hoping for some good stuff on Arcadia as well. I prefer it when it's a bit more open and you have room to move and get in and out if you wish.

It is a great thread and always gets me excited about seeing sets that I never make it to, and on the rare occasion I do don’t end up enjoying. It’s weird, I enjoy plenty of house & disco tracks individually but get bored when I have to watch an hour or more of the same thing. When the full lineups out I’d be interested to see if anyone could point me in the direction of someone who plays fun disco type stuff with a bit of variety.

Divein has posted while I was writing this and I agree with all that, lack of attention span is it.

Yep, me too. Hopefully the "special guest" x My Nu Leng is them. You never know, they may even crop up at Arcadia

This is indeed, the best thread. I've been dealing with some pretty heavy stuff in the last few weeks that's made it hard to get too excited about the festival, but the posts in here are getting me back on the hype train.

Hope you're feeling better every day, WL. Just picture yourself among friends in 55 days, it's going to be wonderful

Bloody right.

Even more reason to think about a few threaders occasionally meeting up for a set or two. We're guaranteed to get you into a better place @Winslow Leach...

(sorry if things have been a bit crappy..)

I'm hoping bill brewster will be added, he usually does pay a few sets over the weekend and sounds like he'd be up ur Street. Plays a mix of good disco, funk, electro and house

Dan Shake is playing Silver Hayes and also said on his insta he'll be in block 9, he's always worth checking out for some fun disco vibes.

Palms Trax already confirmed for Silver Hayes, really think he could throw on a huge late night party, having seen him several times, his sets do feel varied to me, going from old 80s style synth tracks to foreign disco and some house bangers in there. If he's on late at SEC, I guarantee that's where you'll find me.

Out of upvotes, old chum, but that's a really nice thing to say. Yes, I love it in here too, and it's great that more eFesters are finding their way here and contributing. I genuinely hope that this year, after this thread being around for nearly 5 years, we can maybe get a few of us together for a set or two on the Farm. My camping lot are not ravers and, although I always end up making new friends on the dancefloor, it would be ace to put some of the faces in here to their avatars and rip it up together.

Ben

/\ My mates aren't ravers either, apart from maybe 1 and he's generally only into trance. I don't know much about current electronic music but would appreciate and recommended sets and sets not to miss list on here nearer the festival once all the line ups are out.

Palms trax is one of my must sees. His essential mix from last Jan is great and his nts show too. Looking forward to him and moxie b2b in silver Hayes but a late night set somewhere be great

Hi Johnny

Once the other main dance venues (Arcadia, Block9, Glade and Beat Hotel)drop their line ups, this thread will be awash with people posting their massive dance schedules! That’s the time to ask people for their advice. There’s a lovely broad spread in terms of what people here like, so you’ll be able to get good tips for disco, DnB, techno etc from some pretty clued up folks!

It’s going to be massive.

:)

Thanks Ben, i'll be keeping a look out. I'm mostly interested in techno at the moment, maybe a bit of D&B (depending on what it is) and (what I would call) electronica - which is mostly stuff that I don't think quite fits into the techno bracket, in the old days it was called IDM.

There’s essentially no techno announced yet, other than Monika Kruse in The Common. Fingers crossed for a good late night slot in The Temple for her. Daniel Avery in Silver Hayes could be v good and I’m extremely excited for Max Cooper in The Gas Tower in Shangri-La. That should push your IDM button perfectly! The faithful here are convinced that Block9 is going to deliver on techno and we’re praying for a 2015 Maceo Plex/Pan Pot/Adam Beyer-like extravaganza at the new Arcadia thingy. DnB is aplenty, and loads of people on here can steer you in the right direction. I’m keeping a very beady eye out for the Glade Lounge as I am determined to mine whatever good trance the festival can give me. Tell your mate to meet me there!

Once Arcadia/Block9/Glade and Beat Hotel have dropped there is the most wonderful few weeks of people on here posting their dance journeys through the festival. Not only is it one of my very favourite things ever (Christ, it’s been a long two years...), but it always throws up a few sets for me to see that I might not have been thought of. You’ll be grand - people will love to help you find what you’re looking for.

This just inspired me to look back at my 2017 clashfinder. I think I easily had a whole 5 days worth of just electronic acts flagged. Obviously I didn't make it to even a third of them but it's incredible to think just how much quality dance music is available at a non-specialist festival. For me, this is also a big part of the Glasto difference. My group have quite a mix of tastes, they're all open minded and will always get on board with a few recommendations from me that I know will play to their tastes or an absolute 'must see' of my own. BUT I could never get them to go to the likes of Dekmantel or Houghton (nor would they enjoy them). Glasto gives me the chance to see absolute top notch djs/producers in brilliantly produced settings doing some career-defining sets AND share the festival with some of my nearest and dearest who aren't as deeply in to the scene as I am.

    • It’s probably fairly easy to stay in a hotel but I much prefer the camping set up. It was pretty quiet where we camped but a longer walk to the arena but the weather was nice so not a problem. There’s also a lake you can camp by. Once we got off the tube/train we walked down the main road and turned right (festival site is left) and camped down there.    Do you think? They do have water points inside the arena & where I camped there were toilets, showers & water points super close. I think if you time it right the RiP stage is so easy to get close to the front. Second stage is decent & a like the indoor arena for bands on the 3rd stage. I think all the stages sound better than Downloads too, always had issues with the 2nd stage at Download being too quiet. Even main at some points.
    • Interesting that they’ve mentioned Blink-182 in mail. Btw dates for 2027 are 10-12 June. Same dates as Mystic & Sweden Rock and most likely Download, RFP & Greenfield.
    • Scooter are a meme booking. The Chems aren’t viewed in the same way. They’re a serious electronic act, whereas Scooter has only ever been suggested (and now booked) because ‘LOL look how wacky us metalheads are we love silly music too’.
