Be surprised if Palms Trax wasn't at Beat Hotel or Stonebridge. Excited to see Ben's thoughts... MCDE next?

That would be the dream for me and my mates! I saw that thing on Resident Advisor he did and he suffers from anxiety issues so is quite selective in his gigs and doesn't ever take too much on. I can't see him doing Glastonbury for the money that'd be on offer with that being the case. Shame.

So...

I've listened to the whole of the Antal set and, in fact, had already listened to the Hunee set.

Guys, guys, guys...

That they are terrific mixers is not in any doubt. But. Awww man, it's just too flipping major key for me! I can't lie. I like my music minor. Pretty much all of it! I listen to loads of electronica, ambient, drone etc. and almost all of my favourite stuff is minimal, glitchy and minor in key. I guess it's the extrapolation of that into dance music for me that is the reason why techno resonates so much - and, indeed, why most of today's tank top selfie tech-house (love that!) doesn't.

Palms Trax? For this Benny...? Face Palm Trax.

I am very happy to go searching for stuff in the line up and I know I'll find it. But funky electro-pop and disco, no matter how well mixed, might not quite be it!

The Blues probably works, Maceo Plex last year was a bit odd, L U C Y would be even more so

I turned up for Maceo Plex but I reckon I must have got my times wrong because there was only jungle coming out of The Blues.

Definitely saw him a couple weeks later at Dour and he was great.

At least Lucy isn't in Sonic!

Begs the question, where the hell is he? Not Gully, not Wow!, not Sonic.

Can't be Pussy Parlure, surely?

Which leaves...The Blues...

Blimey

Ben

Are we sure it's the techno Lucy rather than another?

Ah right, cheers. That'll be quite early on then and clash with Super Saturday on West Holts.  Oh well - will keep an eye on them cropping up elsewhere.

Im pretty sure he is somewhere else too. On his own. My mate runs a night in manchester and had Hunee on, was impressed.

Yeah, Cieran - his RA listings has him in Silver Hayes on Thursday.

Ben

Last time I checked, RA were listing some other acts for Thursday who definitely weren't playing then so I think the day thing can be ignored.

Extrapolating on that, the fact there's no other similar DJs and the odd typing and I don't think it's him.

Sorry to be a misery.

Soul-destroyingly, I think you're right:

L U C Y Facebook

RA have done no favours there.

Luckily that means we have another Grime / DubStep act on the bill

Good searching! I had spent ages googling but didn't get anywhere.

Yeah, that'll be it. Another stab to Ben's techno dream.

I'm feeling this.  Where's he playing?

He's doing a few but Beat Hotel on Thursday is the one I'm turning up for and as Benny says he'll be in Wow! with Antal on Saturday.

He's also doing NYC Downlow on Friday night.

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
