Oxlyers, and it was decent, not too noisy, fairly close to the main stages and to the Park. I think next year I'll be going with Park Home though, Oxlyers gives you too much temptation to eat the crap at the other stage stalls instead of heading to the Green Fields.

Dairy Ground, one closest to Arcadia.

Pro's - Close to the Park (probably my favourite area), lockups and food vendors at the top of the field, plenty of loos around, close to Gate D when we went on a booze run and when leaving.

Cons - the walkway to the loos was downhill so constantly muddy from the standpipes at the top of the walkway, a lot of awkwardly pitched tents around the outskirts, bit of traffic going to Arcadia once the gigs were over and the breakfast place at the top of the field sold disgusting food, but that was my mistake really. The most annoying thing was the mess come Monday morning, shocking!

All in all, good camping spot, didn't notice the noise from Arcadia much and didn't have many idiots camped around us and everyone was pretty friendly. Would camp there again :)

Park Home - didn't get back earlier than 3 so don't know what Arcadia was like but otherwise we were in a friendly (messy though) neighbourhood.

Pros: Proximity to everything (bar Pyramid but meh) - I think only Pennards would be more optimal but it was full when we arrived at 9pm. Lots of good food nearby up by the park and in the healing fields etc. Nice and close to the railway track so easy to find on the way back from Shangri La. Lots of space for a big group of us to all pitch up next to each other and have a little sit down place too.

Cons: Messy, messy, messy. Not much we can do about other people, mind.

Baileys and Giffin, great apart from 50%+ doors dropped off compost loos meant bigger queues, used long drops in next field instead. Friendly, quite quiet apart from the 'gas man' nearby whooshing all night and although I missed quite a bit of sleep, sure it was Arcadia/park keeping me awake despite earplugs, would camp there again.

Dairy just up the hill from the fire point. Had been in Park home the last few years until the spider evicted us. Was a bit concerned beforehand it would be too far out or potentially too noisy from arcadia but it was great. Lovely view of the site, toilets up the hill in South park were decent and we seemed to have slightly more space. Only 5 mins from Park and arcadia and an easy stumble home from se corner.

Actually what am I saying, awful, definitely don't consider it next year...

Woodsies -

Pros: Quiet, so when you want to sleep, you can.

Good, friendly neighbours.

People cleaned up after themselves.

Somewhere to eat in the morning.

Close to the main stages.

Flat.

Quite a bit of space considering

Cons: A long way to the south east corner.

The hill behind the John Peel was a struggle.

Not many toilets

The food at said eatery was shit.

Camped on the south side of Dairy, close to South Park.

Advantages: close to taps and toilets, reasonably close to shops and the lock-up, good proximity to the Park, great view of the site.

Disadvantages: none from a camping perspective. Neighbours are always a crapshoot.

Pennards.

Pros: Good neighbours, didn't experience or witness any crime. Great location for most things.

Cons: Packed like sardines, which wasn't much fun. Got noisy at night, from the campers to Arcadia.

Next year, I'm thinking Kidney Mead perhaps. I'd consider Pennards again as well, closer to the top next time. If I'm on an outer field, I'll camp closer to the Gate A for the space and the shorter walk.

Pennards

Location, location, location. Neighbours were probably the quietest we ever had. Tents weren't too packed in. Never back before 3am and I'm a heavy sleeper so no disturbance from Arcadia or Park. Close to decent food in Park/Pennards and lockups in Pennards

We were equidistant from toilet block at either end of park. The downhill ones between park and arcadia were pretty rank most of the time, but the ones by the top entry to park were fine. That's about the best i can do in terms of downside other than the need to arrive at 11pm Tuesday for 17 of us to camp together there!

Camped in Pylon

Pros: Fairly quiet, easy to sleep when you wanted to

Nice atmosphere and friendly neighbours

Close to John Peel/Silver Hayes

Not too far from main areas

Food in the cafe was generally good

Cons:

Miles away from Southeast corner

Small amount of toilets meant there was always a large queue

Bushy Ground again.

Good points: Quiet, lots of space and lovely neighbours. Felt fairly central I guess.

Bad points: Far to the SE corner and really suffered from a lack of loos. Campsite info guy said they were meant to be some more composting toilets but Glastonbury 'forget' so "don't blame us, blame Glastonbury!"

Top of pennards, in front of the tipis.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Plenty of space and no problems with the neighbours (though we barely saw them). Looked to be much more cramped at the bottom of the field.

Happy days, but I miss my beloved row mead.

edit: cons: the walk from gate A is horrific!

Kidney Mead as usual. Not over crowded, friendly, near to gate C for car park.

Pros- quick walk down muddy lane to Wulliams Green for Guardian and the bakery and nice food. Easy access to pyramid, acoustic, circus/theatre, most areas really apart from park and dance areas.

Cons- less loos at the top of kidney mead( just gents this year).

Pennards for the first time ever, the more Southern area of the field just opposite the East side entrance to Park and just down from the toilet block on that side (sector U5 on the detailed map).

Great for access to Park bars and toilets. A good path exists now that leads straight down to the entrance to Green Futures providing a good shortcut for getting quickly to SE corner or main drag. Not a bad view from there either and neighbours were all mainly sound with only a few that seemed to like the sound of their own voice too much at 5am.

Downside was that it was fairly rammed and nearly full by the time we got in - pure chance really we found a spot further in amongst the existing tents. Also the bass from Stonebridge kept the ground moving pretty much all night, though hardly a peep from the Silent Disco ;)

Dairy Ground

-PROS: Good if it floods (where we were anyway!), Pretty close to SE Corner so shorter walk home in the morning, Next to Arcadia (might be a con for some but loved having it a 2 minute walk away!)

-CONS: MESSY neighbours, Terrible toilets

Baileys (I think), or what was Baileys (it doesn't seem to be named on this year's map). Think I've ended up there three years in a row now.

Pros:

  • Not as cramped as some fields — we definitely had a little more space round us than we'd have got elsewhere.
  • No noisy neighbours — doesn't seem to attract a party crowd, which works for me these days.
  • Not as far out as it looks — it's a fairly easy stroll to The Other Stage, Arcadia and not too far to The Park.
  • They've put in new long drops and water points, replacing the old portaloos without water that were nearest this field in previous years. This is a massive improvement that addressed my one main gripe with this campsite.

Cons:

  • Bit far from some parts of the site, though this never really bothered me as we tended to head out in the morning then not return till late.
  • Mud was particularly slippery near the entrance to this field, much worse than I saw anywhere else on site. My girlfriend fell over and I almost came a cropper more than once.
  • Arcadia was bloody loud, even at that distance. Not really a con though as I slept through it fine and my girlfriend used earplugs.

I'd recommend it. We'll probably end up there again next year.

That was the worst thing for me, and I was camped just a little lower down the field from you. I actually intended to walk to Dairy but a wrong turn meant I was out for the count and dropped my bags at Pennards.

What time did you arrive at the top, out of interest? I was there pretty early, but it looked like the field filled from the top down. One thing about Pennards is that unless you're at the top, that track that starts about two third of the way up the field deposits you about two thirds of the way down the field on the right side. If you want to get to the Stone Circle, you've then got to climb back up the field to do it. The top of Pennards is a lot easier because the walkway if flatter and straight, so it's quicker to the Stones.

Oxylers - Have camped there for the past 14 years. This year it filled up very quickly. We arrived in the field at 9:30ish and struggled to find a big enough space - other years even by 2pm there has been loads of room. I think this may of been caused by Arcadia stealing camp ground

Camped in Oxlyers this year for the first time. Used to always be in Park Home. Was really good actually. Good location for main stages, a bit far from SE Corner though, nice neighbors too. Think I'll be back in Park Home next year though, don't like walking that far after a big night.

Pennards. Just by the entrance to The Park. Great neighbours, nice to sit at camp when we got back early and listen to Arcadia, good selection of food very close by, shop, loos.

Can't fault it really. Yes it's a bit noisy and quite packed, but we like that!

Pylon – 4th year on the trot in exactly the same spot!

Pros

Easy to get to from Gate A, only a couple of minutes walk down the hill

Very close to JP and Dance village, only 3 or 4 minutes walk down the hill

Quiet

Never gets full, we arrive Thursday afternoon and there’s still loads of space to the edges of the field

Quite good food

Overlooked by security

Never seen any trouble in the four years I have camped there, nor have I ever heard of any thefts from tents

Cons

Not many toilets

If you are up against the fence next to JP, then there can be quite a bit of noise from the access road first thing in the morning – might try the other side of the field next year

Long way from the SE corner/Williams Green/West Holts
