Part of me thinks that if the Roses were playing then there would have been far more whispers by now, similar to the Foo's.

Still can't see them being Pyramid headliners but another part of me wonders if they are the Other Stage on Sunday up against Swift.

So the blatant trolling aside, who are the likely contenders for the final headliner slot? I don't have the persistence to go back however many pages it would take to get a clear picture. Obviously, The Stone Roses have become a front runner, anyone else?

i agree that we probably would've heard something a long time ago, but they're a Pyramid headliner. no way would they headline Other (especially if Swift, a debatable headliner as it is, on the Pyramid)

The Stone Roses, on the other stage? Up against Taylor fucking Swift?

IS THERE ANYONE THERE LOOKING AFTER YOU?

Christ, why was all that made up?

Most people on here add either their preferences, dislikes or mild piss taking but the last couple of weeks seems to have attracted one or more nutters.

I'd love the roses but there's nothing at all to back it up. Why some weirdo would go to such lengths to bullshit us is sad to say the least.

All it does is make me suspicious of any posters I don't recognise.

Sad times

I was going along the lines of (a) has anyone ever headlined the pyramid stage with just 2 very old albums under the belt and no recent material?, (B) the oft talked 'unfinished business' is Michael's view and Emily is pretty much in charge these days and see her feeling their time has passed and © I think the Sunday headliner will be 'pop' based to complete a 'rock', 'hip hop', 'pop' trio of headliners.

Other Stage has had some strong headliners over the year and Roses would (for a certain demographic) be a perfect alternative/antidote to a pop pyramid headliner.

Edit - how the smeg do you list a,b and c in brackets?

the assumption is if they headline they'll be releasing a new album along with it - headlining with nothing new would be rather awful, i agree. Roses are far bigger than any act that's headlined Other though

To be fair, they've had 2015 penned in for a while now for this new album they've been sitting on... apparently *shrug*

Just think if they were definitely playing the pyramid as headliners, we and neil in particular, would have heard strong whispers but equally I think there might be some mileage on them appearing and trying to think where they might play. Other Stage against the 'pop' Sunday pyramid headliner is the only place I can fit them. Edited by Keithy

They'd be a huge headliner with or without new material. They've never played before so I don't see how much different it would be to if they headlined on their reunion tour and she could think their time has passed but their enormous ticket sales proves the demand is still there. There's also no reason to think the trio would have to fit any sort of genre breakdown.

There's no way they'd play the Other Stage. Just not happening. Might as well put Foo Fighters on there and Kanye on the John Peel.

Fair point.....though given the underwhelming 2nd album*, it would be incredibly brave of glastonbury to give them a headline slot off the back of an yet unreleased 3rd abum after a 20 odd year gap.

* opinions may vary.

Did the massive tour and huge shows at Heaton Park pass you by? :|

They're Pyramid headliners if they ever played, the probability is so astronomically low of them playing anything but Pyramid that even roses4baggies would think twice before photoshopping £100 on it.

They would be a huge headliner for the older glastonbury demographic who lived through '88-94'. Anyone 25 or under would find them very underwhelming I'd argue (though I'm sure they'd be exceptions)

Reunion nostalgia tours selling out to a certain demographic are a whole different kettle of fish to headlining glastonbury.
