Did Shangri La ever explain their countdown that seemingly came to nothing?

Seems like the powers that be at Glastonbury said no sharing. They were gonna announce something a day or two after as well, but said something along the lines they would love to share but can't.

The rain was that bad I missed SOAD (the band I was most looking forward to) to see Bastille just so I couls get some shelter. I was that desperate

Can't say I blame you, we took shelter for the entire Deftones set which is pretty gutting as they're awesome but we needed to be dry for an hour or so. I swear I got trench foot from Green Day though, standing in water filled wellies for 2 hours with basically no movement. Saturday at Leeds was not pleasant.

So it'll be chucking it down, but it'll be Purple?!?!?!?!

Oooooooo maybe they'll use Ribena!! :girldance:

The only time I'd accept rain would be for that song. All the lights from the stage would be purple and it would look amazing! I'm sure if they could pull it off inside the O2, they could do it for Glastonbury!

Argh, stop getting me so excited about him headlining - I don't think I'll be able to handle the let down when it's bloody Flo!

(and I was more thinking of a purple-tinged sunset, but Ribena rain sounds excellent!)

That would be unreal! I'd be happy getting drenched under those circumstances.

I still have hopes pinned on the Purple fella for Sunday. I'm taking my mate as a newbie and she's in love with Prince, so I'd just love to see her face both when they announce it, and in the crowd.

I LOVE taking new people and seeing their little faces beaming like mine did back in 2008, when you know you've found something/somewhere special. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy

Last year we where watching Jimi Goodwin on the Park Stage when the heavens opened and we had that amazing electrical storm that briefly shut the whole site down.

We legged it over to the Stonebridge for shelter. As the power was out they couldn't sell the lagers etc but they could dispense real ale - which was fine for me as it is my tipple of choice.

However, the rest of our mob are all lager drinkers, so all they could think to do was go on big massive rounds of double shots. We were stuck in there for quite some time, and the day quite quickly descended into a mahoosive impromptu session. Some did not make it out of their tents for the evening session.....

Me too. Nothing like seeing a grown man with the face of a child on Christmas day when you walk them round a corner at Glastonbury. Just when my friends thought they'd seen it all last year, I lead them into Block 9. That was a picture worth the entry fee in itself.

It definitely won't be Flo unless Emily was lying. I know everyone keeps talking about 'she could' but if you read the whole interview, that in context just meant she was big enough. She won't be headlining this year, but she could be (another year)

Again, this is assuming she wasn't fibbing! Also a massive amount of wishful thinking as it would be a huge let down.

Fingers crossed we'll get our wish!

We were walking from Other to William's Green via John Peel and Pyramid. Took refuge in William's Green, desperately trying to figure out what was going on. We were walking over the top of Pyramid field when they pulled whoever was on (wasn't really paying much attention).

Same! he was great! then the heavens opened and me and a friend stood under the tiny bit of shelter of a crepe van, eating waffles...avoided the rain quite well that year!

Was at West Holts watching Daptone Soul Revue or Sun Ra (I think??) and took shelter in a hammock stall and somehow the whole place turned into a mass cuddle session which was...*ahem*....nice

Ah completely. My mate has done so many festivals, but mainly small dance fests, and she beams when she's at those, so I think it's going to be on another level seeing her reaction.

Plus, 4 of us managed to get a Tipi, so it'll be extra special. Although she is already sick to death of me going on about it, I have zero craic other than 'when I was at glastonbury......'

saying that the rain is great sometimes anyway. remember watching craig Charles in arcadia last year and it was torrential. great moment when it stopped, the sun came out and craig's funky soul and disco went up a notch.

So the rain was great when it stopped?

Soon enough, she'll understand.

He was good, but I think he was getting a bit cheesed-off having to repeat "no we are not doing any Doves tunes today !" again and again.

Thursday last year we ended up just sitting at our tent most of the evening cause of the rain..half a bottle of vodka later and plans to see Psychemagick went swiftly out the window

Sounds like reminiscing about Glastonbury creates a much nicer atmosphere in these parts, lets keep it up eh? Awaiting the 5pm rush of people saying 'without sifting through 20 pages, have I missed anything' then the snarky response begin all over again...

So that gives us around 2/3 hours to fill with festival stories until the workers get home.

Having said that I am just off down to the pub to organize a Grand National sweepstake which I seem to get stuck with doing every year.

At least last year I managed to pull out the winner - not sure I can repeat that trick again this year though !

Speaking of reminiscing, on the thursday i think it was on the hill by the glasto sign, i dont even know what to call it but, someone took a picture of a large group, then asked someone to take a picture of it, then pass on the camera and join the group, then pass on the camera to someone else and then join the group repeated. it got massive in the end and ill love to see the pictures! me and some friends were in it! swear it happned a few days later somewhere else aswell!

Leeds 2013 was my first festival and the weather was disgraceful! The site became a flooded swamp... However, despite that I had an unbelievably good time and managed to get tickets to Glasto last year, which was amazing. So happy me and my mates managed to get tickets again this year, cannot wait!!! I'd love it to be sunny so I can walk around in trainers instead of wellies but either way it is gonna be brilliant!

Rudimental

I was living the full rock and roll lifestyle by getting some hot water from a stall above the pyramid field for a Lemsip for my manflu treatment as the rain started.

We took shelter in a cafe stall between there and the accoustic tent before running the last bit to the accoustic for the fishermans friends walk about sing along drip dry session

It was one of the two! I get them mixed up as well.

We were half watching Haim at the Other and half watching the clouds rolling in trying to determine when it would hit and how bad it would be.
