I don't see why any headliner would hold up the lineup.....why not just annouce the rest with a tba slot over the third headliner.....that would calm people down...why do it like this? just throw out some kind of bone no matter how small it would stop people getting so cheesed off.

It isn't a single headliner holding up the lineup I am sure. That's just hyperbole from the usual suspects who like to make out they are in the know. There are going to be many factors in the timing of the release, the largest of which is I'm sure to maximise the PR value of news releases from the festival and thus promote the brand.

So how do we reckon ticket balance payments are going? There seems to be much fewer communications about paying up this year. Just a single email from seetickets, a couple of tweets from the festival and no re-tweeting from Emily's account etc. even the website seems low key with just an FAQ article as opposed to a massive PAY NOW banner. Given that the pay-up window is only open for another 36 hours or so, unless there is a massive push this afternoon doesn't it suggests GFL are rather happy with the numbers paying up? And that this might mean any need to release the line up anytime soon diminishes rather greatly.

I reckon they are enjoying a bank holiday weekend safe in the knowledge that their sales are bang on target with other years, much as the EE interview suggested.

The nonsense about Kanye was just overblown by the media, by that petition and by ourselves here on this forum.

i'd be very surprised if they haven't announced the lineup before the final cancellation date - that would be a pretty deplorable move that i could understand negativity towards. but now, as it is, people have ages to cancel their ticket, and there's no real rush for the lineup apart from our desperation to see it

The festival have publicly stated that the lineup will be released in the spring, a few interviews have also mentioned April specifically. I doubt we will have to wait much longer, either for the bulk of the lineup or at the very least the final headliner. If you look at the dates on the 'thingie' it is not unusual for the lineup to come out as late as this and the claims of delays are just that.

People were 'sure' a lineup was being released at the start of April.

Not the sensible ones who had looked at the thingy and considered the fact that michael had said he would like it to sell out without releasing the line-up.

maybe because a headliner isn't the reason for the lineup being held back and it's something else entirely? if people don't like it they can go suck an egg. they've got until May to cancel their ticket, and i'm sure the lineup will've been released before that date so what's the problem?

What if this has simply always been the plan to release the line up like this, but in the past years they have been unable to shut bands up?

Neil is on record as saying there is a new approach this year.

Putting together a live show as a dance act takes ages. It's not like a band where you pretty much just plug in. It's not happening.

Can you please expand on this? I'm frankly flummoxed by this theory.

I'd have thought a band would need to , you kow, learn the songs, practice, maybe tune their instruments. I'm not sure connecting a lap top takes as much effort.

must have missed this, did he mean for the announcement or for booking bands?

I think he meant that previously Glastonbury haven't been too bothered if acts self confirm, but this year they have been specifically told not to.

My annoyance at the lineup yet to be announced is that I want to know the potential acts I could see before buying a Sunday reading ticket.

I can't justify the money if I can see the bands at glasto (although I appreciate that neither the libertines or Kendrick Lamar will be there)

Small poster tomorrow or we won´t see it until after the resale is my guess. For me personally it doesn´t really matter, I just want a couple of weeks listening to "new" bands.

Which rumored headliner will draw the most people?
