Neil, are you a bit surprised at the lack of a reminder tweet or anything last night regarding balance payments? I'm obviously not saying it has anything to do with the line up but thought there would be a communication of some sort.

From what I've read from various social media feeds, it seems like there will be a fair few tickets back in the pot...

Not sure if the strategy of not announcing the lineup before the balance payment has worked (if that was their strategy).

worked perfectly for us resale lot! now fingers crossed they don't announce it before the resale to put off more people from trying to get tickets and huzzah!

nope, not really.

As I said last week, I thought it was quite likely they'd want to get a measure of the Kanye effect, and that's best done by doing nothing and seeing what happens.

And while i've heard a few times in the last week that an announcement was imminent, I'd always thought it was more unlikely than it was likely.

Just had an email from 'Follow That Page'. Somebody has made a minor change to the line-up page. I can't personally see what's changed, but something must have. Are they tinkering? Could we be in for a morning announcement?

Could well be that they've made a change but hidden the changes until they want to release them?

I think they want to make mid-late April / early May the norm for releasing the line up from now on. It gives them longer to plan / negotiate with acts etc.

We've all become too greedy lately and want it earlier and earlier. It had to go back to how it used to be - and maybe this is just the year.

Im not surprised that Emilys twiter is quiet...Some of the tweets people have sent her about Kanye & the lack of lineup are vile! I think Id choose to stay quiet too...

Agreed.

I'm sure Emily is made of stern stuff and wouldn't be unduly concerned by the nature of such vitriol, but she's human too, so she'd be forgiven for being a tad rattled. After all, Glastonbury isn't a place you'd associate too much with selfish, spolit narcissists, so tweets like those you've mentioned could be disheartening.

Also balance payments were apparently going well after the first few days so maybe didn't feel the need to push it particularly. Everybody got an email and knew the t&c's when they bought them - there's no need for them to work around the clock.

Yeah totally agree, we have become greedy. I kinda like the way they've held off with the announcements this year and think April / May time is about right for them to announce.

Think they should hold off till after the resale too, whenever that is, do we know when that is?

no idea what's happening with the ticket payment page, tho perhaps it's only open until the techies arrive at work this morning.

Surely See Tickets would have a simple method of automatically changing a page at 23.59 though? Like they do to activate all their ticket sales at 9am exactly on a Friday - that is clearly automated on the clock. Even if not, someone should be charged with changing the page from home at that time.

no official announcement but we're assuming 26th April. i'm sure people will become incredibly frustrated but i'd love for them to hold off the lineup for as long as possible - dropping it right after the resale would be ideal (giving people unhappy with it time to cancel etc but ensuring that registered, say, Prince uber fans aren't jumping in to suddenly buy tickets)

    • I don't think a whole raft of attendees who've been going every year since the mid 90s and mid 10s collectively all thinking the festival is no longer for us suggests we've all aged out of it at the same time. Something fundamental has changed and its pretty obvious what that is. The fact that theyve managed to skinny down the line up so much AND STILL get punters in is a real credit to the bookers, filling it with enough of the current thing to get the kids excited for a weekend while pulling in enough big names to make it worth a day out for the casual Florence fan etc... is impresive. Re Leeds: Annecdotally, from videos, numbers have looked tiny vs Reading, esp on the camping end of things, it would be good to know the official numbers and how much they're down from the peak sell out years

    • I mean she's never going to admit it, but of course she would do a deal...same as Labour would with lib-dems/greens if meant getting into government.
    • They probably do make more from the festival. But take a look at an aerial photo from any year - there's always a few fields that would be viable for festival related use yet are left empty. I guess they just don't want to deal with the associated hassle.
