Neil, how much would validity would you say Eavis' Quote on 'English, But American Band' has?

I know in the past Michael has gone through great effort to try and throw people off the scent, just curious, as i try to sort out a path of who it could be, with Elton or Macca screaming out at me, from that description.

Where have people picked this up from?

My only thought on the reason we've not got anything concrete on the other two headlines yet is that there is good reason for the information to be kept "secret". Foos, fine, nothing in particular to sell out first, no Festival Exclusives anywhere so why not announce.

Leads me to believe that one or both of the others has something else going on, either a tour to sell or an exclusivity arrangement elsewhere (or both). With that weak theory in mind I think Blur and FM (even though the insider info is suggesting it's not them)

Bowie apparently isn't taking bookings, nothing to rule out Macca although if Zegut's (who is usually good on info but has been wrong before on Macca) dates are to be believed he's doing gigs before his US fest date & I'd say that makes him more likely for IOW. Again, nothing explicitly ruling Pulp out apart from the fact they don't seem to actually be doing anything

My only impression to rule out Macca is that he's in the States on the 17th to do Firefly, usually he'd stick about and do a few more shows i'd imagine, after all he is in his 70's now, he won't be zipping across the pond as easily as he once had.

That said, he is rumoured to be playing shows in Europe this Summer, so maybe he may just be doing a one off, he certainly fits the Eavis quote of 'English with an American band', but as i did just say, may just be Michael hoping to catch people out, which is possible.

As for Bowie, he's not really touring is he? Why would he just come back for Glastonbury?

And Pulp? Not yet, they'll be back, just not this year!

I have no idea at all.

Whilst i love Macca, i'm not like a super fan, but i had a little look over his rumours from his boards, and they suggest he'll be in Europe in May-Early June, but the US Festival just throws me, so i have no idea at all, whether he'll travel back or not. I'm sure given the opportunity, he'd certainly play again, it's just a case of whether he's planning to 'extensively' tour Europe i guess, if he's gonna be coming back, he's got a good chance, if not, then i'd imagine it'll rule him out.

Mind, he hasn't done a UK Show since March 2012, so i imagine that he has to come back sooner, rather than later.

To be fair I've been dreaming of that for years too.

Pulp would be my dream Glasto headliners I think. I'd be close to shedding a tear if I saw A Little Soul live on the Pyramid. Closely followed by The Cure and QOTSA

Well I imagine the headliners were booked before the album was officially announced. I'm no expert but I guess the people in charge of booking festivals would've known there were plans for an album/gig way before that though.

On the basis that it was said at the end of last year's fest, I'd ignore it. It's almost inevitable that whatever Michael has said then is later proven wrong by other things which get said or revealed.

But it might have been said with full honesty at the time it was said, as loose plans can get made that aren't followed thru on.

I know it's been about 20 years or whatever since they didn't have one but I'd have thought that's had more to do with having British acts around who are capable of headlining and available, rather than requiring one every year.

He's got houses all over the place, but he's principally based in the UK.
