You would be surprised what is posted online at times, there are thousands on twitter who say the manufactured boyband One Direction are bigger and better than The Beatles, not sure if they are being sarcastic, joking or are indeed mentally ill

I think people are joking quite often. For instance, I bet most of those tweets about Kanye giving 'this McCartney guy' exposure were taking the piss.

Genuinely astounds me how people can't pick up on sarcasm over the internet.

Yes young people should be forced to sit and watch heritage bands who have only stayed on the cusp of relevancy for the last 10 years.

Its a great point. I'd much rather 2 of the 3 headliners were younger bands. I've no issue with Ed Sheeran headlining. I won't be there but hes one of the biggest acts around now and would go down great.

I agree with this, which is why coldplay is the most depressing of all bookings. They arent heritage, they arent a younger act and have played loads of times. It's the absolute pits.

Properly getting into Fleetwood Mac's Mirage album atm. It falls between the cracks due to the seventies stuff and Tango In The Night, but there's some good stuff on there.

I wouldn't even be arsed if the other two (albeit rumoured) headliners weren't so safe and predictable! Heck, Taylor Swift could potentially be the most 'interesting' headliner this year

I am all in favour of newer, younger, shitter* acts on the Pyramid over Coldplay. I of course will not be there for them but Coldplay headlining yet again is another nail in the coffin of the fest as far as im concerned, from a personal perspective. Even more so than the nails the likes of the God awful Kanye or Rihanna would represent.

The fest branching out into having headliners I dont agree with but a uber popular with the newer generations at least shows some imagination and a willingness to evolve and embrace change.........I would get that.............but...........Coldplay??? Seriously WTF? The more I think of it the more annoyed I get at the apparent utter laziness of such a potential decision. Poor show................

That's how it's looking.

I was enthusiastic about her as a plucky young contender in a context that included a veteran Dacker or a Madge or someone of that ilk. If it's her, The Foo Fighter Man and Coldplay then she's the new rainbow-coloured pop heroine in a world of beige bore-rock, and that's a lot of expectation for her to shoulder. She'd better not let me down.

It's hard to imagine 2 headliners less inspiring than coldplay or foo fighters.

Even florence and the machine would be a breath of fresh air in comparison.

The deterioration is significant. From Neil, Bruce, Blur to Foos, Coldplay, Swift 5 festivals later. Seems reasonable to suggest decline. Michael's comments aimed at diverting attention from importance of the headliner indicate level of awareness with him.

I'm still holding on to the hope that Madonna is going to headline. She seems desperate to regain some street cred at the minute, so I can see her management viewing Glastonbury as a good opportunity, despite the reduced fee. If she's ever going to do it, this will be the year.

If she knew what she was doing any more she'd bite their hand off to play, unleash a weapons-grade setlist and level the place - but at the minute she's either getting bad advice or is just doing her own thing to increasingly self-defeating returns and it's pretty painful to watch.

Yeah but at least the Jay Zizzle was a massive statement............in fact I think he paved the way for pretty much anything to be considered a headliner these days, so in an odd way if Taylor gets it it may be due to her standing on his shoulders

Oh and the Verve, well the comeback was deemed a "big deal" by some...............what evs................

However, 2008, for me, will always go down as the year in which the festival did not make Floyd happen............ sniffle..............

Shes obviously a well known Anglophile though and lived 30 miles from the festival site for years so its not impossible that she might "get it" and unleash the hounds.
