in which case it's almost certain that they won't be doing Glasto. The promoter of those stadium shows won't be happy to allow that competition.

I reckon they'll save their fourth headline slot for the 50th festival anyway.

I think that applies to a lot of the major festivals , there is plenty of long established acts to go with , but new headliners seem a bit thin on the ground.

It's sad. There's nothing like seeing a really great act on that stage.

While I'm very far from the perspective that 'music's not as good as it used to be', if acts like Foals, The Vaccines or Two Door Cinema Club are in contention for headlining slots then something has gone a bit askew with the market.

I blame the YouTubes and the Spotifies that they have now.

The rest is just comedy or well established acts . , so taking away Kasabian as an established act that has headlined the Pyramid what are you left with ?

The two biggest selling album acts of the year? I don't know, I'm no good with riddles.

It's a far more reasonable assumption that Sheeran or Nutini will headline the Pyramid in the near future than it is to suggest Royal Blood will do it before they've even released any music.

I know, I know - there'll always be a Travis or a Stereophonics to make up the numbers, but in the past they've usually been balanced out / had their malign presence dissipated by someone with a bit of pedigree. Once the heritage acts give up the ghost, the prospects aren't exactly rosy for a well-balanced, diverse bill that offers something for everyone - at least, at the top of the line-up.

Well the question is who are the "new" heritage acts? Who was big enough 10~ years on from Bowie, Fleetwood and The Stones who will be considered good enough to continue in those lines?

I know the easy answer is "nobody they are all shit only old music is good", but some acts will have to fill those shoes.

I think there are still acts around that could do it - Daft Punk would be an obvious example. Smeone like, say, The Vaccines being promoted to headliner in 2016 with Daft Punk and, I dunno, Radiohead on the other nights wouldn't feel like a weak bill - but if it were Foals, Florence and, I dunno, Calvin Harris I dunno if too many people would be jumping for joy.

I honestly dont understand how fleetwood mac have been hyped into some kind of legendary act? They have always been massively ridiculed when I was growing up. See also abba. The epitome of naff.

All the talk in this thread is of florence and the machine/vaccines/foals/calvin harris/etc. That's the future, and it's bleak.

It was a year later wasn't it? Surprised if they do stadiums/glasto next year though - everything about this album cycle has been low-key. They haven't played any big gigs, and the album isn't even on Spotify. I haven't even listened to it, and I'm a fan.

Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, Elton John, AC/DC, The Eagles, Mariah, Prince, Dylan, Cher, Barry White, Kate Bush.. they could get Rod Stewart or Bowie back... there are more than enough 'legends' still around to take Glasto up to the 50th and beyond if they push the boat out.

Started the following October. I agree Chris has said publicly and more than once that the intimate nature of Ghost Stories means they aren't going to play any festivals on it, or tour it properly, but from that post which sparked this idea it sounds like there's possibly another album in the pipeline? Or of course they could just do a 'Greatest Hits' tour, they have enough songs.

Paulo will headline Glasto one day though. Ive seen him three times at Glasto since 2009 and way he has progressed has been outstanding, he was absolutely stunning this year, probably my favorite performance of the weekend. By the time he's onto album 4 or 5 I could see him easily taking the step up and putting in a truly stunning headline performance.
