Acoustic Tent

In all my many years of going to Glastonbury, I've never been to the Acoustic tent.

So am I missing anything? I understand it's near the Kids field, which I have also never been too. I'll make a point of venturing that way this year, but not sure of anyone that's on the line up. Any recommendations from you lot?

Great venue, lovely real ale bar in the same venue. Only (small) issue is that the stage is at the top of the hill, so I end up with aching calf muscles if watching a couple bands back-to-back later in the weekend... killer, eh?

It's a lovely stage but apart from some of the main acts most of the line up isn't there yet. If you've never been I'd definitely suggest you try to make it up there. I know I'll definitely be there for Suzanne Vega.

You get some interesting stuff in there. I enjoyed Martin Stephenson and the Dainties, Martha Wainwright and Bill Wyman's band last year and Jake Bugg playing solo acoustic (better than his band slot on Pyramid by those who saw both?)

My one gripe is that the stage is at the wrong end of the tent, it's at the top of ŧhe slope meaning that in a big crowd you do struggle to see (and this from a six foot plus bloke, forget it if you're shorter!)

Oh saw Seth Lakeman there as well last ŧime!

And Riptide Movement, who I'm dissapointed aren't back!

Saw The Proclaimers in there last year & it was rammed (didn't help that there were a lot of punters sat on camping chairs)...anyone who's 'vertically challenged' and arrives late will struggle big time to see the stage due to the hill it sits on.

There are a number of performances I'm wanting to catch this year so aim the get there early so MrsL can get a bit nearer the front and not having to stare at peoples backs!!

Only seen one band in there, Love/Auther Lee, cant remeber the year or a whole lot of the gig but fantastic from what I do remener and great atmosphere, although as others have said the view if the stage is really poor.

Love it as a place to go when I'm not sure where else to be - won't always know who it is on the stage but can be sure they are really, really good at what they do. If I were to be told that I was only allowed to pick one stage and I had to be there all weekend, Accoustic is the one I would probably go for.

I am quite old though.

I probably spend more time at the Acoustic than any other stage. The bookers consistently get high quality acts.

Great if it's raining and even in this year's sun it will offer some shade.

I was inside the year the block of banked seats sunk in the ground { by a few feet } and its amazing no one was killed as it tilted so much people fell off their seats - must have been a wet year { what a surprise }
Had to have been ages ago so sometime in the 80's as there was very few Stewards and Security was about and while they were trying to evacuate the area there was others who were trying to climb into the empty seats - I was working in that area the whole weekend so I was able to inspect it when no one was about - the actual banking had been built using scaffolding poles and they were just sitting directly on the ground so it was a accident waiting to happen.
I like the Acoustic area but its been many years since I have been inside as I just keep recalling that night when many came very close to being crushed.

It's one of our favourite tents and they usually have a cracking line-up. We often end up there on the Sunday afternoon when we're getting a bit pooped and just go and lay on the grass with a pint to listen to whoever is on - they are guaranteed to be good. Seen some crackers there over the years - the exception being Hugh Cornwell who clearly didn't understand the word 'ACOUSTIC'. Looking forward to seeing the full line-up for this year.

Love it, great place when it rains. One year aa solo girl, can't recall who, was on stage and went from 20 people to thousands in the space of a minute due to a sudden down pour. Go and see Suzanne vega this year then you can say you have DONE Glastonbury!
